1. Evaluations... The student's answers to all test questions, the time taken to pass the test, and the mark for the test are set automatically as a result of the system processing the students' answers to the questions of tests and assignments.

2. Scales... The system automatically builds the ratings of students for each test and based on the results of the course as a whole. The Moodle system has the ability to create your own scales - from evaluative (based on a point system) to purely subjective emotional evaluations ("well done!", "This is awful!", Etc.)

4. Logs... The following information (the so-called "logs") is automatically saved in the system database and always available to the teacher: last name, first name, patronymic, city, phone number and email address of each student, date, duration of the Internet session and marks about which resources he visited the student while working with the course;

Communication in the Moodle educational system

1. Internal mail("Messaging") is a block.

The most convenient means of communication between teachers and students tete-a-tete. "Messaging" is displayed as a separate block in which you can configure the list of interlocutors, see unread messages, track the message history, block messages from specific users. You can also send a private message from the profile of any listener.

Important: The great convenience of internal mail is that all messages are copied to the user's email address.

2. Email... An email address is an attribute of a user profile. An email address is an integral part of any user's profile. The address can be hidden using the profile settings, but it is impossible not to have it in principle. The email address is listed on each user's profile.

3. Forums is an activity element /

Forums, diverse in their set of functional means, form the basis of the communication environment of the distance course. Until recently, it was a big problem even for experienced web users to organize their own independent forum. For

Groups

There is a "Groups" option in the Course Settings.

The parameter "Group method" sets one of the three modes of using groups - "No groups"; "Separate groups"; "Available groups". In the "Separate groups" mode, each user can see only the members of his group - all other groups are invisible. In the "Available groups" mode, each user works in his own group, but can also see other groups.

The manual is addressed to those who use the LMS Moodle in the learning process, first of all - teachers involved in the implementation of information technologies in various forms of education and students.

The manual consists of 3 parts. Part 1 "Working with the system" describes the Moodle interface and user capabilities. This part of the book is intended for all users (teachers and students). Part 2 "Students - how to work with the course" contains recommendations for students on how to work with the distance course. The creative "specificity" of training specialists in the field of architecture and urban planning causes a certain pessimism regarding the possibility of using distance learning in this area.

As the main arguments "against" the arguments are given about the impossibility of replacing the "face-to-face" contact between students and the teacher; the need to “study” a large amount of visual materials in the learning process; the need to use modern software products for drawing, drawing, visualization, 3D modeling, animation; the need to work in laboratories and undergo industrial practice at enterprises.

At the same time, many reputable architecture and construction universities, as if to refute the concerns put forward, are actively introducing distance technologies. Distance learning is actively used by commercial universities with international connections, issuing so-called "double" diplomas. This applies to the field of teaching design, interior design, landscape architecture.

The high "commercial" demand for specialties in the art direction gives rise to a lot of proposals, the quality of which often raises certain doubts. Yes, architecture continues to be among the prestigious specialties, and today there would be many who would like to receive an architect's diploma remotely.

But is it theoretically possible? Is it possible to train an architect or planner completely remotely, or can distance learning in the construction industry be only a help, an auxiliary moment for the main and only possible "full-time" form?

The analysis performed on the state of the studied market of educational services allows us to conclude that distance education in architectural, urban planning and design specialties is provided, but not by specialized universities that have a reputation and have already established themselves by teaching these specialties "in person" (and even "in absentia") , and various new structures both in the post-Soviet space and abroad (open universities, international schools, communities, etc.)

Why are the world's leading universities "lagging behind" in this matter, yielding an attractive educational niche to unknown competitors?

Currently, video tutorials on teaching skills to work with common computer-aided design and drafting systems: AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, SolidWorks are gaining more and more popularity in the vastness of YouTube. The problem is that the content of these lessons, as a rule, does not take into account the requirements established by modern standards for the design of design and working documentation for construction and is in no way connected with special disciplines taught in full-time.

Thus, the problem of creating an effective distance learning system for architects and urban planners seems to be the most urgent and promising in the near future. In the context of this problem, it is important to highlight which part of the training should remain "full-time", and which can be organized in a distance format.

The Department of Urban Planning and the Urban Planning Faculty of the Kharkiv National University of Municipal Economy is currently working on improving the distance learning courses for students, created since 2009 and the development of new distance courses.
