My school is a three-storeyed building. It is quite big with sport ground behind it, inside swimming pool.

On the ground floor there are the classrooms for the primary-school pupils, workshops, library. There are all kinds of tools and machines in the workshops. The boys of our school have a woodwork room too.

There is a room for manual works for girls. Teachers teach them how to cook, sew and design clothes. Our school library is nice and clean. Two librarians help pupils to find books they need. There are many bookcases and bookshelves with a lot of books there.

If you enter the school and turn right you see a big light dining-room. It is always busy and noisy, but it is clean. Here pupils and their teachers have their lunch. There are blue curtains on the windows and beautiful pictures on the walls.

There is a gymnasium on the ground floor as well. Our physical training lessons are held there. Pupils like to go there even after the lessons, because it has a lot of sport equipment. Our school has many classrooms. The classrooms are light and spacious. There are three large windows in each classroom with flower pots on the window sills.

Each room has teacher"s table, pupils desks, blackboard, tables and charts on the wall, maps and portraits. There are special classrooms for Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, English, and Russian. On the third floor there is a big nice assemble hall. A lot of meetings, concerts, festivals are held there.

Our classroom is on the second floor. Its windows face the school-yard. Our form-mistress is a teacher of Russian language and literature. We respect her very much, she is a kind and knowledgeable teacher. She teaches us Russian and is so fond of her subject, that each of us can not help liking too.

When I think about my school I don"t remember its walls and desks; it is my teachers and school-mates who will be always with me. I am so thankful to our teachers for what they have done for us.

Мы ее очень уважаем, она очень добрая и знающая свой предмет учительница. Она преподает нам русский язык, и ей так нравится ее предмет, что и нам невозможно не любить его.

Когда я думаю о своей школе, я не вспоминаю о ее партах и стенах; я вспоминаю о моих учителях и одноклассниках, которые всегда будут со мной. Я очень благодарна нашим учителям за все, что они сделали для нас.

My school

I want to tell you about my school. I go to school №157. I like my school very much because I think it is beautiful. There are a lot of good and kind teachers at our school. I think all pupils are obedient. I have a lot of friends at school. There are a lot of different classrooms. They are big and light.

As for me I like all subjects, but my favourite subject is English. We have three English lessons a week. At our English lessons we speak, read and write. We read English texts and do exercises. We write on the blackboard and in our exercise-books. I like my English lessons. I like to speak English. I want to know it very well.

I am very thankfulto my school and my teachers. I’ll never forget my school.

School is a very special place, where you grow up, make friends and receive education, a place where we learn to value moral qualities in people and develop our skills and talents.

I want to say that I was lucky to be a pupil of gymnasia №6 with the extensive English learning. Our gymnasia is just in the very centre of our town and consists of two perhaps not very modern but cosy-looking buildings. Entering the main building you come into a large and pleasant hall, which seems to be saying “Welcome” to you. On the ground floor there are a Headmaster’s Office, a library, several cloakrooms, classrooms for junior pupils. On the first floor you can find a teacher’s room, a canteen, a gym, a computer classroom and so on. We are proud of our assembly hall, where all kinds of performances, concerts and meetings are held. It has comfortable seats and it is nicely decorated. Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories are on the second floor. On the walls in the corridors you can see flowers, exhibitions of pupils’ paintings, different kinds of posters and school newspapers.

The range of subjects taught at our gymnasia is rather wide. In addition to obligatory, students can attend different optional classes. It is possible to learn English and American literature, Polish, Spanish and other subjects. I must admit that our gymnasia provides a high level of education. Every year our students show good results at regional and republic Olympiads, scientific conferences. More than 90% enter Universities and Colleges.

Our gymnasia has many interesting traditions. Traditions unite people, help them to be sure of their position in society. That’s why we try to preserve and develop such common and nice traditions as the Day of Knowledge, the meeting of the school-leavers, some holidays as Teacher’s Day, New Year, Victory Day, Christmas, St. Valentine’s Day. Our pupils take part in Exchange Programmes with Poland, Sweden. It has become a tradition to hold Charity Fair, during which we collect toys, books, money and give them to sick children and orphans.

Of course, there are some problems at school nowadays. It’s not a secret that schools experience financial problems. I wish we had more visual and technical aids, more computers, a swimming-pool, a modern canteen. I wish we had less subjects every day. To my mind our school schedule is overloaded. As a result more than 60% of pupils suffer from chronic diseases.

It’s common knowledge that much depends on teachers too. Teachers must be devoted to their work, must love children, be friendly and tolerant.

In conclusion I’d like to say that though educational system experiences a lot of problems, it still manages to produce excellent standards of education.

My school

Many people look back on school years with sadness and some nostalgia; others, on the contrary, with hatred and boredom. As for me, I am fond of my school. I study in the 10 th form of a local comprehensive school which provides advanced study of some subjects. I chose the class of Maths because I think that I’m good at it. And other subjects don’t come so easy to me. So there are 6 lessons of Maths every week in our timetable. By the way we don’t have those day-books which our parents used to have. All our marks can be checked in a special electronic register in the Internet.

The building of our school is very big and made of red brick. It’s neither old nor new, but it is well-equipped and modern inside. Our school has 3 floors. The classrooms are spacious and light. Many of them are equipped with a teacher’s computer, a TV-set and an electronic board. There are 2 computer classes, a library with a reading-room, an assembly-hall, a dining hall, a gymnasium and a swimming-pool in our school. There are also 2 football fields and a sports ground outside the building.

The bell for the first lesson rings at half past 8 and we usually finish at about 2 or 3 p.m. As a rule we have 6 or 7 lessons a day and we study 6 days a week. There is a long 20-minute break after the 4 th lesson to have lunch or just a snack.

I love and respect our principal and most of our teaching stuff. Although some of them are quite strict and old-fashioned, they give very interesting lessons and proper knowledge. The atmosphere in our class is always friendly and busy. Fortunately we haven’t had any bullying or rude behavior among our classmates. I made best friends with some of them. We often take part in school activities together. There are musical performances, intellectual games, concerts, school and inter-school sports competitions and class parties in our school. I"m sure I will miss my school life after I finish the 11 th form.

Я учусь в 10 классе местной общеобразовательной школы, которая предлагает углубленное изучение некоторых предметов. Здание нашей школы очень большое и построено из красного кирпича. Оно ни старое и ни новое, но оно хорошо оборудованное и современное внутри. В нашей школе 3 этажа. Классы просторные и светлые. Многие из них оснащены учительским компьютером, телевизором и электронной доской. В нашей школе 2 компьютерных класса, библиотека с читальной комнатой, актовый зал, столовая, спортзал и бассейн. Снаружи здания есть также два футбольных поля и спортплощадка.

Звонок на первый урок звенит в 8.30, и обычно мы заканчиваем около 2-3 часов днем. Как правило, каждый день у нас 6-7 уроков, и учимся мы 6 дней в неделю. После 4 урока длинная 20-минутная перемена для того, чтобы пообедать или просто перекусить.

Я люблю и уважаю нашего директора и большую часть учительского состава. Хоть некоторые из них и довольно строгие и старомодные, они дают очень интересные уроки и нужные знания. Атмосфера в нашем классе всегда дружелюбная и деловая. К счастью, у нас никогда не было агрессии или грубого поведения среди одноклассников. Я нашел лучших друзей среди них. Мы часто принимаем участие в школьных мероприятиях вместе. В школе проводятся музыкальные представления, интеллектуальные игры, концерты, школьные и межшкольные спортивные соревнования и вечера в классе. Я уверен, что буду скучать по школе, когда окончу 11 класс.
