1. Verb Kennenlernen, unlike the corresponding Russian verb “to get acquainted”, requires an addition in the accusative case without a preposition:

Ich möchte den Journalisten unserer Zeitung kennenlernen.

2. Expression sich lassen + infinitive has a modal and passive meaning and corresponds to the verb können+ infinitive passive. Compare:

You have already encountered the verb several times lassen in different meanings. Let's now try to systematize them:

a) in the meaning of “to leave”, “to leave”:

Conjugation of the verb lasen

Past colloquial (perfect)

The verb "lassen" is an ambiguous verb.

1. Lassen in its own meaning is translated by the verb “to leave”: Mendelejew lies einige freie Plätze in seiner Tabelle. – Mendeleev left several empty spaces in your table. Lass mich in Ruhe! – Leave it leave me alone!

2. Lassen (+ infinitive of another verb)– force, command, allow, allow, allow or another verb that has an incentive connotation in this sentence:

I'm from Moscow, but I graduated from high school in Slovakia. I studied German since the 7th grade, but it always seemed like a rather inaccessible language and often caused panic.
