The Book of Enoch is a mysterious source of magical and religious knowledge. The Book of Enoch and its influence

Book of Enoch

First department

1. The words of Enoch's blessing, with which he blessed the elect and the righteous, who shall live in the day of trouble, when all the wicked and the wicked shall be cast out. And Enoch, the righteous man whose eyes were opened by God, answered and said that he saw a holy vision in heaven: “The angels showed it to me, and from them I heard everything and understood what I saw, but not for this generation, but for distant generations that will appear. I spoke about the elect and talked about them with the Holy and Great One, with the God of peace, who will come out of His dwelling. And from there He will come to Mount Sinai, and will appear with His armies, and in the strength of His might will appear from heaven. And everyone will be afraid, and the guards will tremble, and great fear and trembling will surround them to the ends of the earth. The lofty mountains will shake, and the high hills will sink and melt like honey from the flames of the honeycomb. The earth will sink, and everything on earth will perish, and judgment will be brought upon all the righteous. But He has prepared peace for the righteous, and He will protect the elect, and mercy will rule over them; they will all be God's, and it will be good for them, and they will be blessed, and the light of God will shine on them. And now He comes with myriads of saints to execute judgment on them, and He will destroy the wicked, and will judge all flesh regarding everything that sinners and the wicked have done and committed against Him.

2. I observed everything that happens in the sky - like the luminaries that in the sky do not change their paths, how they all rise and set in order, each in its own time, without breaking its laws. Look at the earth and notice the things that are on it, from the first to the last, how every work of God rightly reveals itself! Look at summer and winter, how then (in winter) the whole earth abounds in water, and clouds, dew, and rain spread over it!

3. I observed and saw how in winter all the trees seemed as if they had dried up, and all their leaves had fallen off, except for fourteen trees, which do not become bare, but wait, remaining with the old foliage, for the appearance of new ones for two or three years.

4. And again I observed the summer days, how then the sun stands above it (the earth), directly opposite it, and you are looking for cool places and shade from the heat of the sun, and how then even the earth burns from the heat, and you cannot step on anything the ground, nor on a rock (stone) due to their heat.

5. I watched the trees become covered with green leaves and bear fruit; and pay attention to everything and know that He who lives forever created all this for you; see how His works exist before Him in every new year, and all His works serve Him and do not change, but as God has appointed, so everything happens! And look how the seas and rivers all do their job together! But you have not endured to the end and have not fulfilled the law of the Lord; but you transgressed it and blasphemed His greatness with arrogant, blasphemous words from your unclean lips - you, hard-hearted ones, will not find peace! And therefore ye shall curse your days, and the years of your life shall be cut short; eternal damnation will be great, and you will not find mercy. In those days you will be deprived of the world, to be an everlasting curse to all the righteous, and they will always curse you as sinners - you along with all sinners. For the elect there will come light, and joy, and peace, and they will enjoy the earth; but for you, the wicked, there will be a curse. Then wisdom will be given to the chosen ones, and they will all live and will not sin again either through negligence or arrogance, but will be humble, not sinning again, since they have wisdom. And they will not be punished throughout their lives and will not die in torment and angry condemnation, but they will end the number of days of their life and grow old in peace, and their years of happiness will be many: they will remain in eternal pleasure and peace throughout their entire lives .

The Book of Enoch is one of the significant apocrypha to which the apostles refer. The oldest text that has miraculously survived to this day.

In the article:

The Book of Enoch and its influence

An ancient representative of religious, theological literature dates back to the 1st century BC and talks about the events that happened before the Flood. Scripture reveals a slightly different view of what happened. Despite its cultural significance, the book was not known to most believers until the 18th century, when it was found in Ethiopian Bible. The publication was part of the canon, but the fate of the text was not easy.

Ethiopian Orthodox Bible on cow leather.

Why did the holy fathers show persistence in not wanting to include Scripture in the canon? Many theories have been developed on this basis. The most popular ones are about conspiracy. A conspiracy in the Vatican, because only at this level can decisions be made about including the text in the canon. The Pope and his cardinals did not want to give official status, so as not to confirm some of the facts described in the work.

What does the text say? About the times and causes of the Great Flood. How two thousand angels descended to earth and began to take mortal women as wives. They began to have offspring with them. When the Earth was filled with sinners, the Lord God brought down a great catastrophe on it. The two events are directly related.

One of the first angels who descended into the vale of mortals was. It is not mentioned in the text itself. It says that the angels, having descended to earth, became fallen. That is, they rejected the grace of Heaven in order to become like mortals. One version of the Vatican conspiracy theory refers to this circumstance.

David's battle with the Nephilim Goliath

Although the book is not officially included in the canon, many study it, trying to understand the meaning of what was written. The origin of the giants that are mentioned in the Bible is interesting. The Book of Enoch is also called the Book of Giants. The point is in the story described above. The angels, having taken mortal women as wives, had offspring - huge giants from 5 to 150 meters in height. They, consumed by eternal malice, attacked and devoured people. Because in their insatiable wombs everything that they could find edible had already disappeared.

The fact that angels passed on a lot of knowledge to people influenced the state of affairs on Earth. Information that brought only pain and suffering. They taught humanity to make weapons, process them, and initiated them into terrible, magical practices.

Seeing the horror that was happening in the mortal world, the Lord planned to wash away everything with the Great Flood, warning only Noah. But first, God imprisoned everyone in the Darkness, where they would await the Last Judgment, and the giants destroyed each other. This fate became a new beginning for humanity, which had to prove its right to a better life.

The Forbidden Book of Enoch

The forbidden book of Enoch causes the most controversy among believers and practitioners. The reasons for such a ban are quite vague, which gives free rein to theories and speculation. Scripture tells how God accepts Enoch into Heaven. He gets there at the age of 365, which is mentioned in the book of Genesis.

Enoch could explore the kingdom of God, study the structure of the heavenly kingdom. Including the structure of celestial mechanics. Now the book can be found on the Internet, but for a long time its fate remained unenviable. It caused loud disputes among the holy fathers, who still could not come to a common opinion. Many questions arose that could not be resolved.

The book has become a help for people who put forward theories that God and other deities were people from other worlds who visited the Earth in order to populate it with people. Such reasoning goes against the main dogma of the Church - God is one, he is omnipotent. If the Lord is a traveler from another Universe, then there are his compatriots. What kind of omnipotence are we talking about in this case?

Second Book of Enoch - Seven Heavens

The Second Book of Enoch goes into detail. So detailed, as if he was there to describe everything later. What is the structure of the divine monastery? It is divided into seven Heavens, each of which performs a specific function.

First Heaven - weather sky. Angels live and work here and are responsible for weather conditions in the mortal world. Creatures control the movement of all stars and other luminaries. This place stores reserves of clouds, snow, hail and dew. Anything that falls to the ground in the form of precipitation.

Second, Prison Sky. Here the Angels rejected by God languish in captivity. Not fallen angels, for whom there is no way back, but those who did not live up to the expectations of the Almighty. Enoch writes that when he passes near the Second Heaven, he hears their cries and groans. Angels ask you to pray for them.

Third, heavenly sky. Here is the Tree of Life and eternal grace reigns for believers. But in the northern part of this monastery there is a place where people who sinned during life are kept. In this place they wait for a return to divine grace.

The sky of chariots, Fourth. The Solar and Lunar chariots on which angels travel are kept here. Angels live here and serve the chariots. They monitor their serviceability.

Sky of the Awake, Fifth. Those who are awake are a special class of angels. They must mourn forever for the brothers who have broken the commandments of God. Grieve and pray that the outcasts understand the error of their ways. During the journey, Enoch says that it would be more beneficial to end the grief and return to serving the Lord.

Sixth, Governing Sky. Here are the angels who control aspects of the world order. They make sure that the world order works smoothly, cleanly and smoothly. Each nation has its own angel responsible for its protection. Fourteen can be seen in this place.

Seventh, divine sky. Here is the throne of the Lord our God. He is surrounded by a huge army, which consists of seraphim and cherubim. The Almighty calls Enoch directly to his Throne, with the help of. But the light of God's greatness is so strong that the monk immediately falls. Then the Lord tells him to get up. Not personally, but with the help of Mikhail.

The divine voice is so powerful that it can immediately kill the person who hears it. Michael clothes Enoch with the garments of glory. Having finished, Archangel Vereveil appears, who gives the monk writing materials and for 30 days tells him about the laws of the universe. After which the monk is honored with a meeting with the Lord God. Who tells Enoch the story of the creation of the world.

It becomes clear why this text causes controversy and gives rise to so many theories. No other text known to man has penetrated so deeply into the Kingdom of God. And it becomes clear the opinion of people who believe that the Book of Enoch can be used as proof that God is a supreme being who came from another planet.

Everything in his kingdom is rational, there are even workers who monitor the performance of all celestial machinery. This leads to certain thoughts. Why does the Lord need helpers if he is omnipotent? There are many other questions that arise after reading, without a clear answer. All that remains is to re-read the lines of the ancient scripture over and over again, trying to find the truth between them.

Slavic Book of Enoch

Slavic Book of Enoch, or Book of the Secrets of Enoch, parts and fragments of a common book that have been preserved in Old Church Slavonic. Scripture has always enjoyed authority among the Slavic saints and was known in the territory of our homeland and beyond its borders. This can be judged by parts of speeches that retain references, and entire clippings from the book of Enoch. For example, as part of the Meril of the Righteous, and the Message of Archbishop Gennady of Novgorod. It was even noted in one of the chronicle texts of Rus' - in the Tale of Bygone Years.

The Book of the Secrets of Enoch is a translated text, but who exactly translated it and from what language is unknown.
There are several main versions of this event. A. Vayan believed that the translation was made from Greek, in Macedonia or Pannonia. N.A. Meshchersky gave many arguments in favor of the theory that the text was translated into Russian from Hebrew.

The book has reached us in different languages. Fragments that are written in one language are different from those written in another. They do not intersect with each other in the plot. Even the composition and writing style are different. This gives a lot of food for thought, because it seems as if fragments in different languages originally described completely different events and were stored in different places.

When I was one hundred and sixty-five years old, said Enoch, my son Methuselah was born. Then I lived another two hundred years. And my whole life lasted three hundred and sixty-five years. One day in the first month, I, Enoch, was alone in my house and lay on my bed, resting. During sleep, abundant sorrow gripped my heart, and I said: “Behold, my eyes are shedding tears (for in the dream I could not understand what this sorrow means). What will happen to me?” And two bright men appeared, such as no one had seen on earth. Their faces shone like the sun, their eyes were like burning candles, and fire came from their mouths. Their robes resembled sea foam, their bodies shimmered with multi-colored colors, their wings were lighter than gold, and their hands were whiter than snow. They stood at the head of the bed and called me by name. I woke up and actually saw the men standing before me. I looked at them, bowed and was horrified, and my face was distorted with fear. And they said to me: “Be of good cheer, Enoch, do not be afraid! The eternal Lord has sent us to you. And today you will ascend to heaven with us. Tell your sons and household members what they should do without you on earth in your home. And let no one does not seek you until the Lord brings you back to them." After listening to them, I quickly left the house and closed the doors, as I was told. And I called my sons: Methuselah, Regim and Gaidad, and told them what those wonderful men told me.

“Listen, my children! I don’t know where I’m going and what awaits me. Don’t deviate from God, walk in the image of God and fulfill the commandments. Do not neglect prayers for your salvation, so that the Lord does not diminish the fruits of your labors; for he deprives them those who store up treasures and do not bear fruit. Dedicate to the Lord the leaders of the flock and the firstborn of your youth, so that you too may be blessed forever and ever. Do not turn away from God and do not worship idols, which you made neither heaven nor earth nor any another creature. For both they themselves and those who worship them will perish. May the Lord strengthen your hearts in your fear. And now, my children, let no one look for me until the Lord returns me to you."

While I was giving instructions to my sons, those men called me, lifted me on wings, then placed me on the clouds, which rushed upward. And I saw air, and even further - air. And so they took me to the first heaven. They showed me a great sea, greater than the earth. Then they brought me to the elders and lords of the star orders and showed me two hundred angels who own the stars, control the movement of the heavens, fly on wings and go around all the planets. And here I saw snow and ice deposits of angels, watching over these terrible deposits, from which huge clouds emerge. And they showed me the storehouses of dew and the color of oil, which is much brighter than any color on earth. I also saw the angels guarding their treasures, and how they opened the storehouses and shut them.

And those men took me and elevated me to the second heaven. And they showed it to me, and I saw impenetrable darkness there, worse than that on earth. And here I saw fornicators hanging in chains, awaiting the Last Judgment. And the angels here were darker-faced than the darkness of earth, and they incessantly let out tears. And I asked the men who were with me: “Why do they suffer incessantly?” And those men answered: “These are apostates who disobeyed the commandments of the Lord, followed their own will and retreated from the Lord along with their prince; and they were placed in the fifth heaven.” I was very sad because of them, and those angels bowed to me and said: “Man of God, pray to the Lord for us!” And I said in response: “Who am I? How can I, a mere mortal, pray for angels? Who knows where I’m going, what awaits me and who will pray for me?”

And those men took me, and elevated me to the third heaven, and placed me in the middle of paradise. And that place was of indescribable beauty! I saw all sorts of flowering trees with ripe and fragrant fruits. In the middle of that place grew the tree of life, on which God rests when he enters paradise. And this tree is indescribable in its beauty and fragrance and more beautiful than any creation. It is golden, red, and fiery everywhere and covers the entire paradise. It combines the advantages of all growing trees and fruits. Its root is in paradise, at the entrance at the end of the earth. Paradise lies between corruption and incorruption. Two springs emerge from under the root: one flows out honey and milk, and the other flows out oil and wine. Dividing into four parts, they flow quietly and enter Eden between corruption and incorruption. They come out from the other side, spilling into forty streams, and run along the ground, turning in a circle, like the rest of the air elements. And there is no tree here that does not bear fruit, but everything produces good fruit. And this place is blessed! Three hundred brightest angels guard paradise and serve the Lord with their ceaseless singing day and night. And I exclaimed: “How wonderful this place is!” And the men said to me: “Enoch, this place is prepared for the righteous who have experienced all sorts of misfortunes in their lives. Even when their souls became embittered, they turned away from unrighteousness and carried out righteous judgment. And they gave bread to the hungry, clothed the naked in vestments, raised the fallen, helped offended and orphans. They walk without blemish before the face of the Lord and serve Him alone. This place is prepared for them as an eternal inheritance."

And two men took me to the north side and showed me a very terrible place where sinners were subjected to all sorts of torments. There was an impenetrable, gloomy darkness there, and there was no light. A dark fire burned there, and a river of fire crossed that area. On one side there is fire, on the other there is burning ice. I saw there a terrible prison and gloomy wicked angels, armed with invisible weapons, with which they tortured sinners without mercy. And I exclaimed: “Oh, bitter grief! How terrible this place is!” And the men said to me: “This place, Enoch, is prepared for those who do not honor God and do evil deeds on earth: they engage in sorcery, conspiracies and demonic sorcery. It is intended for those who boast of their accursed villainy and steal human souls, who oppresses the poor and, taking away their property, enriches himself through their insult. Here come those who can feed the hungry, but starve them because of their greed, who can clothe the half-naked, but strips them naked. This also awaits those who do not recognize their Creator and worships soulless and vain idols. For, creating idols, they pray to the most vile creation of hands. This place is prepared for all of them as an eternal destiny."

And those men took me and elevated me to the fourth heaven. And they showed me here all the processions, movements and currents of sunlight and moonlight. Having measured their processions and compared the light, I saw that the light of the sun was seven times brighter than the moon. The solar chariot rushes in a circle with incredible speed, like the wind, and there is no rest for it either day or night. To the right and left of the sun chariot I saw four huge stars; under each of them there were another thousand stars. There are eight thousand of them in total, and they all depend on the sun. The sun is led by one hundred and fifty thousand angels during the day, and at night by a thousand six-winged angels walking before the chariot. And a hundred angels give him fire. And two spirits fly in the form of two birds - one is like a phoenix, the second is like a chalcedra. Their faces are like lions, their legs, tails and heads are like crocodiles, they are painted with the colors of the heavenly rainbow; nine hundred measures in size, and they have angelic wings. Those who drive the chariot of the sun have twenty wings, and they carry dew and heat. And as the Lord commands, so it happens: the sun sets and rises with its rays in heaven and on earth.

And two men carried me to the east of that sky and showed me the gate from which the sun comes out all year round at the appointed time after the moon sets, when night gives way to day. And I saw six huge gates, each sixty-one stades and a quarter. And I carefully measured these gates, from where the sun comes out and where it always returns, having circumnavigated the entire earth. And I realized how great they are. The sun comes out of the first gate for forty-two days, from the second, third, fourth and fifth - thirty-five, from the sixth - forty-two. And after time has passed, it returns again through the sixth gate and enters the fifth, fourth, third and
the others are thirty-five days. And so the days of each year expire in accordance with the change of its four seasons.

And again the men carried me, now to the heavenly west, and showed me a gate five times larger, open in the direction opposite to the eastern gate. In them the sun sets after three hundred sixty-five and one-fourth days. This is how it enters the western gate. When the sun emerges from the western gate, four hundred angels take his crown and carry him to the Lord. Then it turns its chariot around and spends seven hours in the night without light. At the eighth hour of the night, four hundred angels bring a crown and crown the sun with it. Then the phoenix and chalcedra begin to sing verses, and all the birds on earth beat their wings, rejoice at the Giver of light, and each sings in their own voice: “The Giver of light comes and gives it to His creatures.”

Those men also showed me all the processions and revolutions of the moon and the twelve huge gates that eternally face the east. Through them it enters and ascends at a certain time. Replacing the sun, it rises through the first gate thirty-one days, through the second - thirty-five days, through the third and fourth - thirty days each, through the fifth - thirty-one days, through the sixth - thirty-one days, through the seventh - thirty days, through through the eighth gate - thirty-one days, through the ninth gate - thirty-one days with diligence, through the tenth gate - thirty days, after all, through the eleventh - thirty-one days, after the twelfth - twenty-two days.

Thus, overtaking the heavenly winds, the moon moves day and night in celestial circles located below all other circles. And spirits fly before her, and each angel has six wings. They complete the circle of the moon in nineteen years. In the middle of the sky I saw armed warriors serving the Lord by playing timbrels and organs and constantly singing in good voices. And I enjoyed listening to their singing.

Then the men took me and carried me on their wings to the fifth heaven. And here I saw countless warriors called Gregorians. In appearance they resemble people, and in height they are taller than giants. Their faces were gloomy, their lips forever silent. The service to the Lord in the fifth heaven was not sung. And I asked the men who were with me: “Why are they so gloomy, with sad faces and numb lips, and why is there no service in this heaven?” And the men answered me: “These are the Grigoreans, whose number is two hundred thousand. They rejected the Lord along with their prince Satonail. Behind them wander, step after trail, hung with chains, those who are now in the second heaven, surrounded by impenetrable darkness. time they descended to earth from the throne of the Lord to the region of Hermon and broke their vows on the mountains of Hermon. And the land was defiled by their deeds, and their women commit the greatest evils in life. Committing illegal incest, they give birth to giants, giants and sow great enmity. And for this reason the Lord judged them with great judgment, and they will be rooted in the great day of the Lord.”

And I said to the Gregory: “I saw your brothers, their deeds, torment and great prayer. And I prayed for them, but the Lord condemned them to remain underground until the end of heaven and earth.” And I said: “Why are you waiting for your brothers, and not doing service before the face of the Lord? Leave your prayers and serve the Lord your God, so as not to anger Him completely.” And having obeyed my instructions, they lined up in the sky in four ranks. Four trumpets sounded at once with a great voice, the Gregory sang harmoniously, and their voice rose before the face of the Lord.

Then those men took me and elevated me to the sixth heaven. There I saw seven bright and glorious angels. Their faces shone brighter than the rays of the sun, and they did not differ in appearance, behavior or attire. These ranks are in charge of the movements of the stars, the revolution of the sun and the changes of the moon. Observing the good and evil deeds of people, they give commandments and teachings and create sweet, godly singing and all kinds of glorious praises. These are the archangels, standing above the angels and every creature, be it heavenly or earthly. Subordinate to them are the angels who watch over every fruit of the earth, every blade of grass and every food that is given to every living creature. They also stand above the angels of all human souls, recording the deeds and lives of people before the face of the Lord. Among them are seven phoenixes, seven cherubs and seven six-winged ones. And they have one voice, and they sing unanimously, and their singing is impossible to describe. And the Lord rejoices at his footstool.

Then those men took me and took me to the seventh heaven. And I saw an immensely bright light and all the fiery army of the great archangels, ethereal forces and all the fiery army of the great archangels, ethereal forces, ruling principles and powers, cherubim, seraphim, thrones and ten regiments of the many-eyed luminosity. And I was afraid and trembled with great fear. Then those men took me, brought me among the army and said: “Be of good cheer Enoch, do not be afraid!” And they showed me from afar the Lord shining on his highest throne. And, approaching him, the heavenly army, lining up in order of ten degrees, bowed to the Lord and again took their places in joy and gladness and in immeasurable light, singing songs in quiet and meek voices. And they served the Lord, not leaving Him day or night, standing before His face and doing His will. Cherubim and seraphim surrounded His throne, and the six-winged ones covered Him and sang in a low voice before the face of the Lord. And when I saw all this, the men said to me: “Enoch, we are ordered to accompany you only to this place.” And they went away, and I never saw them again. Left alone on the edge of heaven, I became afraid and fell on my face, saying to myself: “Why did this happen to me!” And the Lord sent one of his glorious archangels named Gabriel, and he said to me: “Be of good cheer, Enoch, do not be afraid! Arise and walk with me and appear before the face of the Lord forever.” And I answered him, saying to myself: “Lord, my soul has left me from fear and trembling. Call to me those men who brought me here, for I trusted in them and with them I go to the face of the Lord.”

And Gabriel lifted me up as the wind lifts a leaf, and set me before the face of the Lord. And I saw the face of the Lord. It was strong and glorious, wonderful and terrible, formidable and strange. But who am I to describe the immense being of the Lord, His marvelous and inscrutable face, His many-learned and polyphonic face? How to tell about the throne of the Lord, great and not made by hands, about the standing of the cherubim surrounding Him and the army of seraphim, about their incessant singing? Who can convey the unchanging and inscrutable image of His beauty and the greatness of His glory? And I fell on my face and worshiped the Lord. And the Lord with His lips said to me: “Dare Enoch, do not be afraid! Arise and appear before my face forever.” And the Archangel Michael lifted me up and brought me to the face of the Lord. And the Lord said to His servants, looking at them: “Let Enoch draw near to stand before My face forever.” And the angels of the Lord bowed down and said: “Let him draw near according to Your word.” And the Lord said to Michael: “Come and take off Enoch’s earthly garments, and anoint him with My good myrrh, and clothe him in the garments of My glory.” And Michael did as the Lord commanded him: he anointed me and clothed me. And the myrrh shone more than the brightest light, and it was like fertile dew, and the fragrance and aroma of myrrh sparkled like the rays of the sun. And I looked at myself - I became like one of His glorious angels and was no different from them.

And the Lord called one of his archangels by the name of Vreoil, surpassing the rest in the speed of his mind and recording all the deeds of the Lord. And the Lord proclaimed: “Bring the books from My storehouses and show them to Enoch. Give him a writing stick.”

Vreuil immediately brought elegant incense books and handed me a greyhound cane with his own hand. And he explained to me all heavenly and earthly matters: about the sea and all the phenomena, movements and riots of natural elements; about the sun, moon, stars, about their movement and change; about seasons, years, days and hours; about the rising of clouds and the blowing of winds; about angel numbers and songs of the army; about human life, commandments and teachings; about sweet singing and everything that should be learned.

Vrevoil enlightened me for thirty days and thirty nights, and all this time they did not stop talking.
his speaking mouth. I tirelessly wrote down all the signs and wonders. And when sixty days and sixty nights had passed, Vrevoil said: “This is all that I had to tell you, and you write it down. Now sit down and write down the souls of unborn people and the places assigned to them forever, for before the creation of the world it was predetermined what be for every soul."

And I sat exactly sixty days and sixty nights, and wrote everything down exactly. And I wrote three hundred and sixty-six books.

Enoch was born on the sixth day of the month Pamovusa and lived three hundred and sixty-five years. And he took to heaven the month of Nisan on the first day. He remained in heaven for sixty days, writing down everything about the signs and creatures created by the Lord. And Enoch wrote three hundred and sixty-six books and gave them to his sons. And he spent thirty days on earth, telling them about everything, and then he was again taken to heaven in the same month of Pamovusa, on the same sixth day and hour in which he was born. Thus, every human being possesses the secrets of this life: conception, birth and presentation. At what hour it is conceived, at the same time it is born and presented.
Amen.

Article from the encyclopedia "Tree": website

It is considered the earliest apocrypha, it came down to us in the Ethiopian language and therefore received the name "Ethiopian Enoch".

This book includes several collections written in the centuries BC.

The Book of Enoch develops a distinctive concept of the Fall, starting not from the story of Adam, but from the sixth chapter of the Book of Genesis. According to the apocrypha, the “Sons of God,” by which the author means angels, succumbing to sensual temptation, came into the world against the will of the Creator and taught people magic and sorcery. For this they were bound and imprisoned in the abyss (Jude 14 -15).

The author of the Book of Enoch does not believe in the possibility of repentance for the wicked, which the Book of Daniel allows. He symbolically depicts history in terms of ten weeks, during which evil will prevail in the world. But there are pages in the book that bring it closer to the most sublime sayings of the prophets and even the Gospel: “Woe to you who repay your neighbor with evil, for what will be in store for you according to your deeds... Fear not, you who suffer, for there will be healing for you.”

The book describes in parables the history of the Old Testament up to the Maccabees. She talks about the death of the Temple, in the place of which a new one will appear, full of beauty and splendor. At this time, the Messiah will be sent to the world, He is the Son of Man, the Chosen One, the Righteous One, the Son of the woman. This is not just a descendant of David and not an ordinary human being: "Before the stars of heaven were created, His name was called before the Lord of spirits... He was chosen and hid before Him, and He will be before Him to eternity."

The Apocrypha views the messianic era as temporary, followed by the struggle against darkness and the final Epiphany - the Judgment of God. Then the righteous will put on "everlasting garment of life", will become like angels and will be inseparable from the Son of Man. They will have access to the mysterious Tree of Life.

Thus, true prophecies are interspersed in the apocrypha with the creations of the apocalyptic fantasy of the Hasidim. The Kingdom of God is depicted in it, on the one hand, as the transformation of the world, and on the other, in terms of chiliasm. Enoch predicts that the earth will turn into a garden and fabulous earthly abundance will come.

Book of Enoch is one of these copies [symbolic and allegorical copies of the original records] and, moreover, it is of Chaldean origin and is now a very incomplete presentation. As already said, Enochion in Greek means "Inner Eye" or "Clairvoyant"; in Hebrew, using masoretic points, it means "Initiator" and "Mentor"

Liudolf, "the father of Ethiopian literature", who was commissioned to examine the various Manuscripts relating to Enoch presented by the traveler Pereisc to the Mazarin Library, stated that “no Books of Enoch could not exist among the Abyssinians"! Further research and discoveries, as everyone knows, shattered this overly dogmatic statement. Bruce and Ruppel found Book of Enoch in Abyssinia and, what is even more, they brought it a few years later to Europe, and Bishop Laurens translated it. But Bruce neglected it and ridiculed its contents; just like all other scientists. He explained that the book is a work Gnostics and refers to the age of Giants who devoured people - and has a great resemblance to Apocalypse. Giants! another one of fairy tales!

However, the best critics did not share this opinion. Dr. Hannenberg places The Book of Enoch, along with the Third Book of Maccabees, is at the top of the list of those whose authority is closest to the authority of canonical works .

< ... >

A man of great erudition, French scientist M. de Sacy finds in Book of Enoch some very strange allegations “worthy of the most serious investigation,” he says. For example:

“The author [Enoch] states that there are 364 days in the solar year, and appears to know periods of three, five, and eight years, followed by four additional days; Apparently, the latter in his system relate to the equinoxes and solstices."

He further adds:

“I see only one way to explain them [these “absurdities”]; namely, to assume that the author is expounding some kind of fantastic system that could exist before that the time when the Great Flood changed the order of Nature" .

Exactly; and the Secret Doctrine teaches that “this order of Nature” was so changed, as well as the successive earthly races of mankind. For as the angel Uriel says to Enoch:

“Behold. I have shown you all things, O Enoch; and I have revealed all things to you. You see the Sun, Moon and those, who control the stars of the sky, which cause all actions, the changing of seasons and their returns. In the days of sinners years will be reduced..... The moon will change its laws.... » .

In those days also, years before the Great Flood, which swept away the Atlanteans and changed the surface of the whole earth (due to the fact that "Earth"[or its axis] leaned over), Nature, geologically, astronomically and cosmically, in general, could not be the same, precisely because the Earth leaned over. Here are the words from the book of Enoch:

“And Noah cried out in grief: Hear me, hear me, hear me - three times. And he said......... the earth labors and shakes powerfully. Undoubtedly I will die with her."

By the way, this seems like one of the many "inconsistencies" found in Bibles, if you read it verbatim. For the least that can be said is that this fear is very strange in one who has “found favor in the sight of the Lord,” and who was instructed to build the ark! But here we see the venerable Patriarch expressing the same fear as if, instead of the “Friend” of God, he were one of the Giants condemned by the angry Deity. The earth is already leaned over and being drowned by the waters was a matter of time, and yet Noah seems to know nothing of his destined salvation.

Indeed, the decree was revealed; the decree of Nature and the Law of Evolution that the Earth should change its Race, and that the Fourth Race should be destroyed and make way for a better one. Manvantara has reached its turning point three and a half Circles, and gigantic, physical Humanity has reached the limit of gross materiality. Therefore, the apocalyptic verse mentions the Command ordering their destruction, "so that their end may be accomplished"– the end of the Race!

"For they knew[truly] all the secrets of the angels, every oppressive and secret power satanists and every power of those who are guilty of witchcraft, as well as those who make cast images throughout the whole Earth."

Now a natural question arises. Who could have sent this powerful vision to the apocryphal author - no matter what time before the days of Galileo it belonged - that the Earth could at times tilt its axis? Where could he draw such astronomical and geological knowledge, if the Secret Wisdom, from the source of which the ancient Rishis and Pythagoras drank, is only a fantasy, an invention of later centuries? Didn't Enoch accidentally read, prophetically, in the writings of Friedrich Clay about the Flood, the following lines:

“In primitive times, the position of the globe in relation to the sun apparently differed from what it is today, and this difference must have occurred due to the displacement of the earth’s axis of rotation.” < ... >

In short, Book of Enoch There is vault the main features of the history of the Third, Fourth and Fifth Races; and very few prophecies dating back to the present era of the world; a long list of retrospective and introspective prophecies about worldwide and completely historical events - geological, ethnological, astronomical and psychic - with some hint of theogony from antediluvian records. The book of this mysterious personage, with copious extracts from it, is mentioned in Pistis Sophia, and also in Zohar and in its most ancient Midrashim. Origen and Clement of Alexandria treated her with great respect. Therefore, to say that it is a post-Christian counterfeit is to utter an absurdity and become guilty of anachronism, for Origen, who lived in the second century of the Christian Era, among others, mentions it as an ancient and venerable work. The hidden and sacred Name and its power, beautiful and clear, although allegorical, are described in an ancient volume. From the eighteenth to the fiftieth chapters, all the Visions of Enoch describe the Mysteries of Initiation, one of which is called the Flaming Valley of the “Fallen Angels.”

It is possible that St. Augustine was quite right in saying that the Church rejected Book of Enoch from his Canon for her great antiquity (ob nimiam antiquitatem). The events noted in it could not fit within the limits of 4004 years BC, allocated to the world from its “creation”!!

THE BOOK OF ENOCH – THE SOURCE AND FOUNDATION OF CHRISTIANITY

While the Jews, or rather their synagogues, attached great importance to the Merkava, they rejected the Book of Enoch; either because it was not included in the Jewish Canon from the very beginning, or, as Tertullian thought, this book was

Rejected by the Jews just as they rejected all other Scriptures that spoke of Christ.

But none of these reasons were valid. The Sanhedrin had nothing to do with it, simply because this work related more to magic than to pure cabalism. Current theologians of both the Latin and Protestant Churches classify it as an apocryphal work. However, the New Testament, especially the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles, is replete with ideas and doctrines now accepted and established as dogmas by the infallible Roman and other Churches, and even whole phrases taken entirely from Enoch or "pseudo -Enoch,” who wrote under this name in Aramaic or Syriac-Chaldean, according to Bishop Laurens, the translator of the Ethiopic text.

These plagiarisms are so conspicuous that the author of The Evolution of Christianity, who edited Bishop Lawrence's translation, was forced to make several pointed remarks in his introduction. According to the evidence arising from the essence of the book, it has been established that it was written in the pre-Christian period (two or twenty centuries BC, it does not matter). As this editor correctly points out, it is:

Either the inspired prediction of the great Hebrew prophet, predicting with marvelous accuracy the future teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, or the Semitic fiction from which the latter borrowed His concepts of the triumphant return of the Son of man to sit on his rightful throne among rejoicing saints and trembling sinners, awaiting either eternal happiness or eternal flame; whether these celestial visions are taken to be human or divine, they exercised such an enormous influence on the destinies of mankind for nearly two thousand years that candid and impartial seekers after religious truth can no longer delay exploring the connections of the Book of Enoch with the revelation or evolution of Christianity.

"Book of Enoch"

It also keeps records on the supernatural control of the elements through the activities of individual angels who have power over the winds, sea, hail, frost, dew, flashes of lightning and thunderclaps. Also given are the names of the chief fallen angels, among whom we recognize some of the invisible forces named by name in the (magical) incantations written on the terracotta bowls of Jewish-Chaldean invocations.

On these cups we also find the word "Hallelujah", proving that

The word that the Syro-Chaldeans used in spells, through the vicissitudes of the fate of the language, has now become the secret password of modern revivalists.

The editor then quotes fifty-seven verses from various parts of the Gospels and Acts, with similar passages from the Book of Enoch, and says:

The attention of theologians has been focused on passages of the Epistle of Jude, since the author specifically mentions the name of the prophet, but the totality of linguistic coincidences and ideas in Enoch and the authors of the writings of the New Testament, which were revealed in similar quotations during our comparison, clearly indicates that this work The Semitic Milton served as the inexhaustible source from which the evangelists and apostles, or those men who wrote under their names, borrowed their concepts of resurrection, judgment, immortality, the destruction of sinners, and the universal reign of righteousness under the eternal rule of the Son of man. The gospel plagiarism reaches its climax in the Revelation of John, which adapts the visions of Enoch to Christianity with modifications in which we no longer find the majestic simplicity of the great master of apocalyptic prophecy, who prophesied in the name of the antediluvian patriarch.

To be fair to the truth, one would at least have to hypothesize that the Book of Enoch in its present form is simply a copy - with numerous pre-Christian and post-Christian additions and interpolations - from much older texts. Modern research has already advanced so much as to lead to the discovery that in chapter LXXI, Enoch divides day and night into eighteen parts and represents the longest day of the year as consisting of twelve of these eighteen parts, whereas a day of sixteen hours cannot exist in Palestine. The translator, Archbishop Laurens, says this about this:

The region in which the author lived must be located not below forty-five degrees north latitude, where the longest day is fifteen and a half hours, and not above forty-nine degrees, where the longest day is exactly sixteen hours. This places the country where he wrote at the height of at least the northern regions of the Caspian and Euxine seas... the author of the Book of Enoch was perhaps a member of one of the tribes that Shalmaneser carried away and placed "in Hale and Gabor by the river Goshen, and in the cities of Media."

It is further recognized that:

It cannot be said that the evidence arising from the facts of the case demonstrates the superiority of the “Old Testament” over the “Book of Enoch.” ... The Book of Enoch affirms the pre-existence of the Son of man, the Chosen One, the Messiah, who "from the beginning existed in secret, and whose name was spoken in the presence of the Lord of Spirits before the sun and the signs were created." The author also refers to "another Power that was upon the Earth above the waters that day" - an obvious allusion to the language of Genesis I. 2. (We contend that this also applies to the Hindu Narayana - "hovering above the waters") . Thus we have the Lord of Spirits, the Chosen One, and the third Power, which seem to foreshadow this Trinity (as well as the Trimurti) of the future; but although Enoch's ideal Messiah undoubtedly had a significant influence on the primary concepts of the Divinity of the Son of Man, we fail to identify his vague allusion to another "Power" with the belief in the doctrine of the Trinity of the Alexandrian school, especially since "angels of power" abound in the visions Enoch.

It is unlikely that an occultist would not recognize the said “Power.” The editor, concluding his remarkable reasoning, adds:

Thus far we learn that the Book of Enoch was published before the Christian era by some great Unknown of a Semitic (?) tribe, who, believing himself to be inspired in the post-prophetic age, borrowed the name of the antediluvian patriarch to vindicate his own enthusiastic prediction of the kingdom of the Messiah. And since the contents of this wonderful book are freely included in the "New Testament", it follows that if the author was not an inspired prophet who predicted the teachings of Christianity, then he was an enthusiastic visionary, whose illusions were accepted by the evangelists and apostles as revelations - these are two alternative conclusions that are associated with the question of the Divine or human origin of Christianity.

According to the same editor, the result of all this was:

The discovery that the language and ideas of a supposed revelation are found in a pre-existing work, accepted by the evangelists and apostles as inspired, but classified as apocryphal by modern theologians.

This also explains the reluctance of the venerable librarians of the Bodleian Library to publish the Ethiopic text of the Book of Enoch.

The prophecies of the Book of Enoch are indeed prophetic, but they were intended to cover the events of only five of the seven Races - everything relating to the last two is kept secret. Therefore, the remark made by the editor of the English translation that

Chapter XXII contains a series of prophecies extending from the time of Enoch himself to about a thousand years after our present generation,

wrong. These prophecies extend to the end of our present Race, and not just another "thousand years" into the future. It is very correct that:

In the system of chronology accepted by Christians, one day (sometimes) symbolizes a hundred years, and a week symbolizes seven hundred years.

But this is an arbitrary and unreal system adopted by Christians to make biblical chronology consistent with facts or theories, and does not represent genuine thought. "Days" symbolize the indeterminate periods of the Lateral Races, and "weeks" the Sub-Races: The Root Races were referred to by a designation which cannot even be found in an English translation. Also, the sentence at the end of page 150:

Subsequently, in the fourth week, they will see the saints and the righteous, the order of generation after generation will be established,

completely wrong. The original says: “the order generation after generation was established on Earth,” etc.; that is, after the first human race, born in a truly human way, was born in the Third Root Race - which completely changes the meaning. This means that everything that is given in the translation - as probably as in the Ethiopic text, for the copies are very altered - about events that should happen in the future, in the original Chaldean manuscript, as we know, was stated in the past tense, and is not a prophecy, but a narration of events that have already happened. When Enoch begins to "speak from the book," he is reading a description given by a great Seer, and these prophecies are not his own, but come from that Seer. Enoch or Enochion means "inner eye" or Seer. In this way every prophet or adept can be called an "Enochion" without becoming a pseudo-Enoch. But here the Seer who composed this "Book of Enoch" is clearly indicated as reading from the book:

I was born seventh in the first week (the seventh branch or Lateral Race of the first Sub-Race, after the physical birth began, namely in the third Root Race). ... But after me, in the second week (in the second Sub-Race) great malice arises (or rather, arose), and this week the end of the first will come, in which humanity will be safe. But when the first one ends, hostility will increase.

The way it is translated it makes no sense. Thus, as stated in the esoteric text, this simply means that the First Root Race must come to its end during the second Sub-Race of the Third Root Race, during which time humanity will be safe. All this has nothing to do with the biblical Flood. Verse 10 speaks of the sixth week (sixth Sub-Race of the Third Root Race), when

All those who are in it will darken; their hearts will become forgetful of wisdom (divine knowledge will fade away) and one person will rise in it.

For some mysterious reasons of their own, interpreters consider this “man” to be Nebuchadnezzar; in reality he is the first Hierophant of the purely human Race (after the allegorical Fall into generation), chosen to preserve the fading Wisdom of the Devas (Angels or Elohim). He is the first “Son of Man,” this mysterious name was given to the divine Initiates of the first human school of Manushi (people), at the very sunset of the Third Root Race. He was also called the “Savior”, since He was the one who, together with other Hierophants, saved the Chosen and the Perfect from the geological fire, leaving to perish in the cataclysm of the End those who had forgotten the original wisdom, immersed in sexual sensuality.

And during the completion of it (the “sixth week” or sixth Sub-Race) he will burn the house of supremacy (half the globe or the continent inhabited at that time) with fire, and the entire race of the chosen root will be scattered.

The above refers to the Elect Initiates, and not at all to the Jews, to the supposed chosen people, or to the Babylonian captivity, as interpreted by Christian theologians. Whereas we find Enoch, or his perpetuator, mentioning the execution of "the judgment of sinners" in several different weeks, saying that "all the works of the unbelievers will perish from the face of the Earth" during this fourth time (the Fourth Race) - then this is not cannot be applied to one single Flood of the “Bible,” much less to the Captivity.

It therefore follows that since the "Book of Enoch" covers the five Races of the Manvantara and gives several allusions to the last two, it does not contain "Biblical prophecies", but simply facts taken from the Hidden Books of the East. In addition, the editor admits that:

The preceding six verses, viz., 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18, are taken from the interval between verses 14 and 15 of the nineteenth chapter, where they are found in the manuscript.

With this arbitrary rearrangement he made the confusion even more confusing. Yet he is quite right in saying that the doctrines of the "Gospels" and even of the "Old Testament" were taken entirely from the "Book of Enoch", for this is as obvious as the sun in the sky. The whole of the Pentateuch was adapted to agree with the facts given therein, and this explains why the Jews refused to give this book a place in their Canon, just as the Christians subsequently refused to admit it among their canonical works. The fact that the apostle Jude and many of the fathers of Christianity refer to it as a revelation and a sacred book, however, is an excellent proof that the early Christians recognized it; among them the most learned - Clement of Alexandria, for example - understood Christianity and its doctrines in a completely different light from their modern followers, and viewed Christ under an aspect that only occultists can appreciate. The early Nazarenes and Chrestians, as Justin Martyr calls them, were followers of Jesus, the true Chrestos and Christos of Initiation; while modern Christians, especially Western ones, may be Papists, Greeks, Calvinists, or Lutherans, but they can hardly be called Christians, that is, followers of Jesus Christ.

So, the Book of Enoch is entirely symbolic. It tells the history of the human Races and their early connection with Theogony, the symbols being mixed with astronomical and cosmic mysteries. However, one chapter is missing from the records of Noah (both the Paris and Bodleian manuscripts), namely, chapter LVIII in section X; it could not be remade and therefore it had to disappear, only distorted fragments remained from it. The dream about cows, black, red, and white heifers refers to the first Races, their separation and disappearance. Chapter LXXXVIII, in which one of the four Angels “went to the white cows and taught them the secret,” after which the emerging mystery “became man,” refers: a) to the first group that developed from the primitive Aryans, and b) to the so-called “secret Hermaphrodite,” relating to the birth of the first human Races as they are now. A well-known rite in India - a rite which has survived in this patriarchal country to this day, known as the passage, or birth, through a cow - a ceremony to which those of the lower castes undergo who wish to become Brahmins - has its origins in this mystery. Let any Eastern occultist read with great attention the above-mentioned chapter in the Book of Enoch, and he will find that the “Lord of the Sheep,” in whom Christians and European mystics see the Christ, is the Hierophant of the Sacrifice, whose name in the Sanskrit language we dare not give out. And again, while Western churchmen see in the “sheep and wolves” the Egyptians and Israelites, all these animals, in fact, have to do with the trials of the neophyte and the mysteries of initiation, be it in India or Egypt, and the most terrible punishment brought upon oneself "wolves" - those who recklessly reveal what only the Elect and the "Perfect" should know.

Christians who, thanks to later interpolations, have seen in this chapter a triple prophecy relating to the Flood, Moses and Jesus, are mistaken, since in reality it has a direct bearing on punishment, the destruction of Atlantis and retribution for indiscretion. The "Lord of the Sheep" is Karma, and also the "Head of the Hierophants", the supreme Initiator on Earth. He says to Enoch, who begs him to save the sheep drivers so that they are not devoured by wild beasts:

I will make sure that everything is listed to me... how many they destroyed and... what they will do; whether they will do as I ordered them or not. However, they should not know about this, and you should not explain anything to them, and you should not scold them, but an account must be taken of all the destruction they committed in their time. ...And silently, rejoicing, he watched as they were devoured, swallowed, carried away, and left them for the beasts to eat... < ... >

To be successful, the occultist must be fearless, must face danger, dishonor and death bravely, be full of forgiveness and remain silent about what cannot be revealed. Those who have labored in vain in this direction must now wait, as the Book of Enoch teaches, "until the wicked are destroyed" and the power of the wicked destroyed. It is unlawful for an occultist to seek or even crave revenge; let him:

Waits until sin disappears, for their (sinners) names will be erased from the sacred books (astral records), their seed will be destroyed and their souls killed.

Esoterically Enoch is the first “Son of Man”, and symbolically the first Sub-Race Fifth Root Race. And if his name, when applied as a numerical and astronomical glyph, gives the meaning of the solar year or 365, according to the century assigned to him in the Book of Genesis, it is because, being the seventh, he, for occult purposes, is personified the period of the two preceding Races with their fourteen Sub-Races. Therefore he is shown in this book as the great grandfather of Noah, who in turn is the personification of the humanity of the Fifth, fighting with the humanity of the Fourth Root Race; it was that great period of revealed and profaned Mysteries when the “sons of God” came to earth and took human daughters as wives and taught them the secrets of the Angels; in other words, when the “mind-born” people of the Third Race mixed with the people of the Fourth and the divine Science was gradually relegated by people to Witchcraft.
