In parks, squares, on the central streets and squares of Moscow, events from the everyday life of people of different eras, grandiose fights and magnificent balls will be recreated in detail. Authentic costumes, household items, authentic entertainment will send you on a historical journey prepared by reenactors from all over the world.

Guests will see performances of wandering fencers on Pushkinskaya Square, the secrets of alchemy at the Medieval University in Kamergersky Lane, the construction of a medieval castle on Nikitsky Boulevard as a bricklayer, blacksmith or carpenter, a “thaw” dance party on Tverskaya Square - 30 venues throughout Moscow have prepared a program for any age, taste and interest.

The final of the international competition of historical projects will also be held at the festival. The participants' projects will be presented at Revolution Square, and the nine winners of the competition will receive one million rubles each for their implementation.

The main venues of the festival:

Pushkin Square

Pushkinskaya Square will become one of the centers of attraction of the festival - medieval knightly tournaments will be held here. The guests of the holiday will be able to see fencers' duels and even take part in training battles. It will also be possible to try on armor and become a 15th century warrior at the school of knights in the Friendship Park, where fans of medieval history will find fascinating lectures, an exhibition of knightly equipment, a stable and a smithy.

Nikitsky Boulevard

On Nikitsky Boulevard, the everyday life of the early 20th century will be presented as it is described in the works of the outstanding Russian writer Anton Chekhov. A cycle of performances based on his stories and plays will be shown here. The scenes will be acted out by reenactors in costumes of that time.

Tverskoy Boulevard

The atmosphere of the Patriotic War of 1812 will be recreated on Tverskoy Boulevard. There will be tents of the armies of Napoleon and Alexander I. They will be guarded by soldiers and officers in uniforms of the early 19th century. Visitors to this site will visit the field kitchen and see the work of the regimental smithy.

Strastnoy Boulevard

Lectures on the work of the legendary Moscow Criminal Investigation Department (MUR) in 1945-1953 will be held on Strastnoy Boulevard. In the post-war period, gangs, including juvenile criminals, were operating in the capital. The guests of the site will learn how they caught offenders and what tricks the Murovites had to go to.

Kamergersky lane

The Medieval University will be opened here, the guests of which will learn the secrets of alchemy, understand the structure of medieval machines and get acquainted with the discoveries of Leonardo da Vinci.

Novopushkinsky square

In Novopushkinsky park, young visitors of the festival will be able to take part in games from different eras and see toys in the old style. Near the Krasnopresnenskaya metro station, everyone will visit the atmospheric Moscow courtyard of the 1970s-1980s, and the Presnya Museum will host the Eclecticism of the Revolution exhibition dedicated to uniforms and military equipment during the revolutionary events of the early 20th century in Russia.

Profsoyuznaya street

The site on Profsoyuznaya Street will be dedicated to the capital's railway stations. There you can get acquainted with the life of railway workers of the middle of the 19th and 20th centuries - conductors, machinists, telegraph operators.
Tverskaya Square On Tverskaya Square, the atmosphere of the Khrushchev thaw and the appearance of a typical dacha of that period will be recreated. Here guests of the festival can relax, listen to jazz, visit an antique auction and an exhibition of retro cars.

Chistoprudny Boulevard

An early medieval Viking shipyard will open on Chistoprudny Boulevard. She will be guarded by reenactors in chain mail, armed with swords and large painted shields. There you can see a medieval Viking boat. During the festival, guests of this site will be able to participate in the construction of two more smaller vessels - a replica of a fishing vessel found by archaeologists in southwestern France, and a 10th century Scandinavian dugout boat made from a solid tree trunk.

Revolution square

The best works of the participants of the competition of historical projects, which is held within the framework of the Times and Epochs festival for the second time, will be presented on Revolution Square. 21 participants made it to the final of the competition. They proposed projects for new museums and exhibitions, websites, books, multimedia products and historical and cultural parks.

Moscow did not have time to cool off from the hot World Cup, as its streets, squares and boulevards are again filled with events. From 10 to 22 August, the Times and Epochs festival will last, thanks to which in one day you can travel from the Neolithic era to the Soviet thaw, find yourself among the hussars and the French from the time of Borodino, see the ancient Romans - you can't name all of them.

The end of summer, excellent weather in Moscow. It is even worth breaking away from your favorite summer cottage, ignoring the next shopping center, so that the whole family can visit the bright festival grounds. Participation is free, you just walk around Moscow and meet colorful characters, get acquainted with the traditions, interiors, household items and entertainment of a particular time.
The scale of the festival is serious, so it is advisable to go to the official website or download a mobile application before visiting, choose the epochs that are closest to you and make a route.

Festival website: http://historyfest.ru/
The choice is rich, for example, today we have been for the fifth time, and still have not bypassed all 30 sites. The main action is concentrated in the city center, on squares and boulevards. But there are also platforms at the River Station (knights), on Vorobyevskaya Embankment (the fleet of the Second World War), at Krasnaya Presnya (will appeal to fans of the Soviet period).
Most of the points of attraction are located on the Boulevard Ring. On Gogolevsky Boulevard, you will find yourself in Moscow of the 17th century, get acquainted with the crafts and goods of that time, and an open field military camp will tell you about the turbulent period of the Troubles.

We visited Tverskoy Boulevard several times, the epoch of 1812-1814 was too impressed. Russians and French, magnificent dresses and songs of hussars are a win-win option for both women and men.

Well, where else can you chat with Napoleon, dance with a hussar or chat with a lady from the 19th century?

Soldiers and partisans, as if just returning from the Napoleonic war, gather visitors around them and tell amusing stories. I mean that “Times and Epochs” is not only a platform for beautiful selfies, but also an excellent educational project, I would even say inspiring, to return home and re-read the second volume of “War and Peace” or watch some documentary.

In the neighborhood, in Novopushkinsky square, there is a playground for children, although it will be quite interesting for adults too - games from different eras. As they say, business time is an hour of fun.
On Pushkinskaya Square, the site is dedicated to fencing, and when you reach Strastnoy Boulevard, you will be transported to the beginning of the 20th century. We get acquainted with the Chekhov era and sites dedicated to the Moscow criminal investigation department.

Walking along the Boulevard, we met the prince, who was beckoned to the camp by the gypsies. Ah, these songs, bright dresses and dances, so that neither the prince nor we could pass by.

Here you can also see the "tricks" from the card sharper, in Soviet times they were called katals. And also to be photographed in a dress of that time with a wonderful gentleman.
A couple of minutes later, on Petrovsky Boulevard, we found ourselves surrounded by primitive people, mammoths. For a second you even forget that you are in the center of Moscow. It's nice that the participants willingly communicate with guests, talk about their characters, and willingly take pictures.

By the way, the festival participants are not actors. They are the same people as we are, only fascinated by history, who are members of various historical societies. What they do is called reconstruction, and everyone does it within the framework of their own understanding. Just think: they create all these extraordinary costumes, wooden log cabins and boats, military headquarters and much more at their own expense. Not a cheap hobby, but definitely interesting and important for society. The festival program states that 300 historical clubs are participating, and not only from Russia, so we can safely say that the championship is being held in Moscow again, only this time with the use of a time machine.

On Rozhdestvensky Boulevard, a military headquarters from the times of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 is deployed, and ordinary entertainment and everyday life are shown. Most of the festival venues are organized according to the principle of "war and peace". And, of course, there are many bright costumes again. If you only knew how much we love it ... more than cats.

Without leaving the epoch of the XIX century, we go to Sretensky Boulevard and find ourselves in the center of the events of the defense of Sevastopol during the Crimean War. Next comes Chistoprudny Boulevard and, in my opinion, the most unexpected project of the festival is “Seven in the Past”. These people literally went to the 10th century, to an old Russian farm for nine months without telephones and common things. You can learn more about the project from the Internet, look for the Ratobortsy agency.

Chistoprudny Boulevard in our personal rating takes the second place, there is a magnificent reconstruction of the life of Russia in the 10th century. The wooden log cabins of medieval Russia are impressive, where else will you see this?
It is easy to guess that the main characters here are Princess Olga, Vladimir with a brave retinue, Oleg the Prophet. These are only those whom we met and got to know, and, of course, there are many more of them.

And next to them on Chistye Prudy is adjacent, guess who? That's right, Vikings. Ships are something. Particularly active visitors can work at the Viking shipyard, for some reason we did not dare.

Antique wars settled down on Pokrovsky Boulevard. Ancient Greeks, Romans and barbarians each had their own camp. But the main thing is the reconstruction of their battles. I just adore this era, so we spent quite a lot of time at Pokrovka.

Antiquity on the territory of our modern state is represented here, of course, - these are the Scythians who inhabited the steppe regions.

The boulevard is long, therefore it has accommodated another era - the Great Embassy of Peter I. This was the name of the tsar's official journey through the countries of Europe in order to learn from the experience. The atmosphere is perfectly rendered!

The festival "Times and Epochs" on the Boulevard Ring ends with Yauzsky Boulevard, which was turned into an American town during the Civil War with its own post office, school and bank.

Unusually bright and colorful playground.

In the very center, there is a platform opposite the Moscow City Hall, on Tverskaya Square. Moscow thaw of the 50-60s, dudes, fiery dances. And besides that, you can arrange a photo session on the bus of that time, visit the reconstruction of a typical apartment - the room even smells somehow special, probably like in a library.

Finally, Kamergersky Lane was filled with medieval alchemists, Revolution Square introduces Afanasy Nikitin and his "Walking Beyond Three Seas" - there were not enough forces for these sites. But the festival is not over yet, I think we will still have time to visit.

"Times and Epochs" is a magnificent celebration of history and fantasy, impressions are guaranteed to absolutely everyone. You should not impose strict requirements on him, as to a history textbook, just come and feel the action of a time machine on yourself! The words of Karabas-Barabas come to mind: "It's just some kind of holiday!"

From June 1 to 12, 2017, the "Times and Epochs. Collection" festival will take place in Moscow. The theme of this year's festival is historical reconstruction, its possibilities and achievements.

"Times and Epochs 2017" is changing its format. Now this is not just an event in Kolomenskoye dedicated to a specific period. The festival becomes a grandiose convention of 6,000 reenactors from all over the world, who will represent the eras from Antiquity to the 20th century for 12 whole days. "Times and Epochs. Collection" will become a real exhibition of the achievements of the reconstruction economy, a platform for the exchange of ideas and experience.

"Times and Epochs 2017" is 30 sites. 6000 participants and 12 eras.

The idea of the festival is to collect in the capital all the best from the world of reconstruction from around the world. Different eras will intertwine on the streets and in parks into a single historical event. Muscovites and tourists will walk in the center from one era to the next, travel to parks to watch the battle of the 17th century, the battle of legions with barbarians, or the camp of the Russian Imperial Army.

The starting point of a long journey through times and eras will be the festival's information center on Tverskaya Square. As in any decent hotel, guests can enjoy a cozy atmosphere, information about festival venues, maps, a program of events, explanations and assistance from staff speaking several foreign languages. In different parts of the Kolomenskoye park there will be camps for Peter the Great's soldiers and Roman legionnaires. On Tverskoy Boulevard, visitors will meet teams of reenactors from all over the world. They will constantly replace each other, either leaving to participate in park festivals, or returning for informal communication with colleagues and guests. On Kuznetsky Most, you can look at the everyday life of characters from bygone eras, who will settle in transparent honeycomb houses, and watch archaeologists processing objects found during excavations in Moscow. On Vostochnaya Street there will be a park of medieval siege engines. New Arbat will be transformed into a battle arena where the best medieval warriors will come together in duels. On Chistoprudny Boulevard, guests will be transported to the second half of the 19th century, to the picturesque Sevastopol promenade.
