When the admission campaign starts in Barnaul and other cities of the Altai Territory, applicants begin to study educational institutions, the areas of training they offer. Creative individuals immediately pay attention to such an institution as the Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts (currently it is called the Institute of Culture). What faculties and specialties are there?
The past of the educational institution
In the mid-70s, an institute of culture appeared in the capital of the Altai Territory. It was erected in accordance with the order of the Council of Ministers and with the aim of training specialists for the creative side of life. The university existed and developed for several years. In 1995, its name changed. It became known as the Altai Institute of Arts and Culture.
An important year in the history of the educational institution is 2005. The status of the university has changed. The institute was replaced by an academy. This testified that the institution is developing, giving its students a quality education. With this status, the educational organization lasted 10 years. In 2015, the university again became an institute. However, many still call it an academy.
Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts: faculties
This institution, like any other organization, has an internal structure. Its elements are faculties. There are 5 of them in the academy (institute):
- choreographic faculty;
- faculty of design and information resources;
- musical faculty;
- faculty of artistic creativity;
- f-tet of additional professional education (APE).
Acquaintance with the choreographic faculty
The choreographic structural subdivision of AGAKI (Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts) was established in 1989. The appearance of the faculty is associated with the opening of the department in the institution, where ballroom dancing was taught. In 2000, a new area of training was created related to modern dance.
Currently, university applicants are offered a choice between folk art culture and choreographic art. Both areas are undergraduate. The term of study for them is 4 years.
More about the Faculty of Design and Information Resources
This structural division originates in 1975. Previously, it was called the library and information faculty. However, in 2005 it became clear that this name was no longer suitable. The reason for this was the expansion of the list of educational services, the opening of new specialties.
At the moment, the Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts at the Department of Design and Information Resources is preparing in 6 areas of undergraduate studies:
- social work;
- Applied Informatics;
- archiving and documentation;
- protection of natural and cultural heritage sites and museology;
- information and library activities;
- design.
In all specialties, the faculty strives to provide high-quality training of specialists. This is possible due to the high scientific and pedagogical potential of the structural unit, the improvement of the methodological support of the educational process and the existing system of extracurricular activities.
Faculty of Music
For creative individuals who love music, the Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts helps to reveal their talents at the Faculty of Music. This structural unit has been operating since the founding of a higher educational institution in Barnaul. Over the years of its existence, it has changed its name several times. For example, in 1994 the faculty was called musical and pedagogical, and in 1997 it became simply musical.
In the Altai Academy of Culture and Arts, this structural unit has 4 areas of training:
- conducting;
- the art of folk singing;
- Teacher Education;
- instrumental and musical art.
Studying at the Faculty of Music is interesting and informative. Firstly, some teachers are leaders of leading city and regional teams. They can learn from experience, gain important knowledge. Secondly, the structural subdivision of the academy has an excellent material base. The university has auditoriums for rehearsals, a chamber hall.
Faculty of Artistic Creativity
This division was founded by AGAKI (Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts) in 1975. It also changed its name several times during its operation. Faculty of Artistic Creativity - the modern name. It is very capacious. This name includes various areas of culture in which graduates of the faculty can work.
What areas of training does AltGAKI (Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts) offer at the department? Here is their list:
- cultural and social activities;
- artistic folk culture;
- directing festive events and theatrical performances;
- tourism;
- folk crafts and arts and crafts;
- acting art.
For the educational process, the Faculty of Artistic Creativity has everything you need. Classrooms for practical classes are equipped with decorations, have lighting and projection devices. There is also an educational theater at the faculty, in which future actors learn to play various roles.
Faculty of DPO
In 2000, the Altai State Academy of Culture and Arts (Barnaul) opened a branch of DPO. It is engaged in solving such important tasks as advanced training of workers from the field of retraining of specialists, further vocational education for students.
The quality of educational services at the faculty is at a high level. This is due to the fact that professionals from the field of culture (for example, folk artists) teach here. Designers, heads of studio organizations and other specialists are also involved in the educational process.

Irina
Good afternoon, I want to join you! but I do not understand the wording of this specialization, tell me "folk art; amateur theater director, teacher; amateur theater;" is it only related to artistic activities, or will there be some kind of interference with directing training? What subjects will be included in this specialization?

I would also like to know what exams to give. I want to learn acting...
