While the media are discussing the upcoming celebration of the athlete, her family is experiencing a tragedy

While the media is discussing the upcoming celebration of the athlete, her family is experiencing a tragedy.

As Rita Mamun’s mentor said, the girl’s father died two days after the gymnast returned from Rio. Her coach Amina Zaripova reported this in an interview with EG.RU. “Two days after Rita returned from Rio de Janeiro to Moscow, her dad died. We did not advertise this tragedy, but now we can already say. He was seriously ill for a long time. He met his daughter after returning from Rio, held her gold medal in his hands, shed tears, and two days later he was gone. Probably God gave him strength to see his daughter’s Olympic triumph. At least on TV. Rita won for her dad,” Zaripova commented.

Rita’s teacher also notes that the athlete has a very intelligent family and once again condoles the tragedy that happened.

“In this family it is not customary to raise your voice. The first time I called my student, it seemed to me that I woke her up - Rita spoke so quietly. Fortunately, she doesn't have to repeat anything twice - she grasps everything right away. But Rita often lacked the sporting anger that is so necessary for victory,” admitted coach Mamun.
Let us remember that Rita competed for our country at the Summer Olympics in Rio.

She meant not only Rita’s roots - her father is from Bangladesh, and her mother is Russian - but also her special grace and ability to wait for the most opportune moment to jump on the podium. This is exactly what happened in Rio. Margarita never made a mistake and was able to beat her friend on the K-team in the individual all-around competition Yana Kudryavtseva, which became the second.

"We're fighting ourselves"

Margarita Mamun: I didn’t know that Yana made a mistake in performing with clubs. We don’t look at each other’s performances and don’t know each other’s ratings. I just stood there, waiting for my exit, and told myself: concentrate, concentrate, concentrate. Yana was distracted, and this dropped her to second place. In general, our sport is such that we don’t compete with anyone, we don’t try to get ahead of anyone by a split second. On the mat we fight with ourselves.

“AiF”: Evgenia Kanaeva, the London Olympic champion, managed to concentrate best. They say you aspired to be like her...

“I would like to be a bright individual, so that I won’t be confused with anyone.” But when compared with Kanaeva, I'm pleased. I studied with her in the same room and always noted her great hard work, dedication and self-criticism. What sets me apart is my ability to fight to the end. Seconds change your life. Everything is in our hands - the ball, the mace, the ribbon, and the hoop, and we should never miss them.

-What did mom tell you after d-dinner?

“My parents are very worried and never watch my performances. Everyone congratulated my mother, but she didn’t even know what medal she won! And I understand her. It’s one thing to perform on your own, to control the situation, and another thing to watch and realize that you can’t help your loved one.

— Amina Zaripova, your coach, is also very happy, you even let her wear your gold medal. Why?

— 20 years ago she failed to win a medal at the Olympics in Atlanta and came fourth. But now she has a victory as a coach. We made it! It turned out to combine the physical and emotional state together.

"Whistling? This doesn’t happen with us.”

— Regarding the emotional state. Have the scandals surrounding the Russian Olympic team affected you?

— When the question of not allowing Russia to participate in the Games arose, we were at the training camp in Brazil and were completely immersed in training. Irina Aleksandrovna Wiener did not tell us half of what she knew herself, she tried to shield us from everything. But, of course, everything that happened could not help but anger us. At the same time, in our sport it is impossible to imagine what happened to Yulia Efimova in swimming. In rhythmic gymnastics, we are friends no matter what country we represent. For someone to be booed or called names - this cannot happen!

— Maybe you are friends because the competition in rhythmic gymnastics is not so strong?

“We have competition, and it’s huge. I'm not even talking about our traditional rivals from Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, and Spain. The level has improved in Georgia and Israel. A gymnast from the USA has now managed to qualify for the Games, and a girl from Korea almost took third place in Rio. Well, we... We are the first today!

In early September, 21-year-old gymnast and Olympic champion Margarita Mamun married 29-year-old swimmer Alexander Sukhorukov. About first love, the test of time and a sports family - in the material.

There is a crowd in front of the entrance to the Radisson Royal Moscow hotel: cars are lining up, smart passengers are rushing to the doors. “Are you going to the wedding of Alexander and Margarita?” the receptionist asks. “You’re going to the second floor, to the banquet hall.”

There are still 15 minutes before the celebration starts. The musicians are silent, the waiters circle around the foyer with glasses of champagne. Loud laughter is heard on the stairs, and a flock of beauties in evening dresses - gymnasts, bridesmaids - flies into the hall. A moment later, the groom's friends enter - swimmers, teammates on the Russian team. Many guys and girls know each other: they met at training camps and international competitions. They hug, exchange news and remember the Universiade in Kazan in 2013. It was there that the bride and groom met.

I remember I liked Rita right away. I was the first to write to her on social networks: “When are you performing?” I wanted to cheer for her

Alexander told in an interview with HELLO!. Since then, he has always supported Margarita.

I won thanks to Sasha. I made special efforts during training so that I could work out faster and run away on a date,

Margarita remembers with a smile.

Sasha became her first love, and he himself had never had a serious relationship before. After the Universiade, they lived in different cities for a year: Rita in Moscow, Sasha in Los Angeles. While apart, they talked for hours on Skype and wrote long letters to each other, which they still treasure.

After the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, Rita flew to Sasha in America - a 13-hour flight to spend two days together. And at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, the most important in Rita’s career, Sasha’s support turned out to be invaluable.

Then, at the Olympics, I committed my strangest coaching act,” recalls Margarita’s personal mentor, Amina Zaripova. - A few days before the performance, Rita was poisoned, she had a temperature of over 40. At the hospital they prescribed her a huge list of medications, but on leaving the building I tore it up and told Sasha: “Take a taxi and take her away from here. For Rita, the main medicine is this You". Perhaps this was not entirely correct, but it helped: next to her loved one, she recovered faster and then performed well. “I decided to propose to Rita back in Rio,” Alexander says about that time. - But then I thought that I needed to give her the opportunity to enjoy the victory.

Returning from Brazil, the lovers began to live together, and Alexander proposed in December - at the Olympic Ball. Solemnly getting down on one knee under the guns of cameras and cameras, he asked Rita to become his wife.

The bride chose a dress from Alena Akhmadullina Atelier especially for the celebration. “Margarita and I settled on a classic wedding silhouette and color. The dress is made of exclusive French lace with a jeweler’s adjustment of the pattern during assembly and fit. But, of course, the most important thing is the embroidery in the Russian style, which took three kilograms of pearls and 150 hours of handmade work," said Akhmadullina

They prepared for the event for a month and a half. Everything was organized with the ONE SGM team, which manages Margarita’s business, and our partner, the Samson Bouquet Flower House, which took care of all the decorations. And they made it a family holiday, for those closest to us. When Rita and Sasha finally appeared in the banquet hall as husband and wife, the guests could only admire. She is small, thin, graceful, wearing an Alena Akhmadullina Atelier dress that fits her figure; he is tall, stately and fit. Both had been waiting for this day for four years.

All my life I dreamed of seeing this loving look on my son’s face,” said Alexander’s mother, Svetlana Vasilievna. - Sasha and I have a strong connection with each other, even strangers notice it. When I found out that he was going to get married, I cried. The son was surprised: “Mom, don’t you like my bride?” On the contrary, I really like Rita. I just realized that my boy has grown up.

Newlyweds with Margarita's mother - Anna Yuryevna When the photo session with the newlyweds began, guests lined up to receive a memorable photo.

Sorry, but I'm out of line. “As a parent,” Rita’s mentor, Amina Zaripova, jokingly noted.

“Ritula was lucky,” the groom’s mother commented. - All people have one mother, but she has three: her own - Anya, personal trainer Amina Zaripova and the main mentor - Irina Aleksandrovna Viner-Usmanova. She grew up before their eyes.

Personal trainer of Margarita Mamun Amina Zaripova. “But at first I didn’t like Sasha. But when I looked closer at their relationship, I saw sincere and strong feelings,” she said
Irina Viner-Usmanova’s visit was a pleasant surprise: she is a rare guest at public events, and she had hundreds of students over the years of her career, so no one expected that the mentor would come to congratulate her ward. But Irina Alexandrovna arrived. In a floor-length red dress, with a tiara on her head, she entered the banquet hall.

Of course I came! - Wiener exclaimed deliberately solemnly. And then she turned to the groom: “There are many Olympic champions, but there is only one like Rita. She has not only a gold medal, but also a golden character, my dear, protect her like the apple of your eye.”

Irina Alexandrovna was also one of the first to congratulate the newlyweds.

Today is an important day for Rita. Next to her are her friends, mother, brother. I know that her dad is also here in this room (Margarita’s father, Abdullah Al Mamun, died in 2016 - Ed.). Before performing at the Olympics, it became known that Rita’s father had two days to live. I asked her mother not to tell the girl anything about his condition until she came forward. I remember I told her: “Everything you do today is for dad. Dedicate this performance to him.” And we won! It turned out that Rita’s dad also managed to see his daughter’s number and was very happy for her.

On the bride's side, her gymnast friends were present at the wedding, including Ekaterina Se-tei-kina, Ralina Rakipova, Alexandra Ozhi-ga-no-va-Merkulova, Elizaveta Nazarenkova
The groom’s “team” included his fellow swimmers, members of the Russian national team The remaining congratulations from the guests were divided into “from those on the water” (Sasha’s colleagues on the national team and coaches) and “from those on the mat” (gymnasts and Rita’s mentors). All the guests invariably agreed on one thing: these two were very lucky to have each other.

The newlyweds prepared for those present a romantic dance to Andrea Bocelli's composition Time To Say Goodbye.

And then Alexander presented a musical surprise that he had prepared especially for his beloved: together with the lead singer of the WeCanBand group, he performed the song “The Master and Margarita” by rapper Basta and singer Yuna. The guests joked: “The song is definitely about them. He is an Honored Master of Sports in swimming, she is Margarita, a lucky coincidence.”

And now what my girlfriends have been waiting for all evening,” Rita shouted joyfully, taking the bride’s bouquet from the table. - Ready?

The unmarried stood frozen in anticipation. The coveted bouquet was caught by former gymnast and now vice-president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Tatyana Gorbunova.

“Oh, it’s a pity, not me,” Aksinya, the six-year-old daughter of Amina Zaripova and Alexei Kortnev, sadly noted. - This is all because they are tall and flexible.

However, after a minute, the girl forgot about her disappointment and began to dance with the bride and groom to the song “Eyelashes,” performed by the group “Brothers Grim.”

Biography

Childhood

Margarita Mamun was born on November 1, 1995 in Moscow. She is half Russian, half Bengali. Her father is from Bangladesh. It is her eastern roots that her coach explains Mamun’s expressiveness, lyricism and plasticity. Rita, at the age of seven, began going to the gymnastics section, where her mother brought her, since the Olympic village is located not far from their home. She consciously began preparing for a career as a gymnast at the age of eleven. She trains under the guidance of coach Amina Zaripova. At the Sports and Youth Sports School she trained under the guidance of Natalya Valentinovna Kukushkina. In the national team, Mamun’s mentor is Irina Aleksandrovna Viner-Usmanova.

In 2005, as part of Karolina Sevastyanova’s team, she took part in the Miss Valentine Cup, held in the Estonian city of Tartu. For a short time, Margarita took part in competitions for the Bangladesh team, but soon made the final decision to compete for Russia.

Youth

Mamun achieved her first great success in 2011, when she became the Russian champion in exercises with clubs, ball and hoop. Margarita also became the Russian champion in all-around. Margarita began to be involved in training with the national team in Novogorsk. In the same year, she was sent to compete in Montreal, where the World Cup took place. Mamun, with a score of 106.925 points, took third place in the all-around and climbed to the senior podium for the first time in her career. In exercises with the ball, Rita scored 27.025 points and took first place.

Climbing

In 2012, at the World Cup in Kyiv, Mamun won three bronze medals: in exercises with ribbon, ball and clubs. In the same year, Margarita became the absolute champion of Russia, repeating her last year’s success a year later. At the competition in Tashkent, Rita was one step away from the podium, scoring 113.200 points in the sum of all exercises and taking 4th place.

In 2013, Mamun became the champion of Russia for the third time. On the eve of the first tournament of the Grand Prix series, Irina Viner announced an update in the composition of the Russian team (in addition to Mamun, it included Alexandra Merkulova, Elizaveta Nazarenkova, Anna Trubnikova, Daria Svatkovskaya and Maria Titova) and called Margarita the leader of the Russian team.

She opened the season with gold in the all-around at the Grand Prix in Moscow. She took the first step of the podium in exercises with clubs, ball and hoop, and in exercises with ribbon Mamun took third place. At the next stage of the Grand Prix in Thieu, Margarita won all possible gold medals: in exercises with ribbon, ball, clubs, hoop and all-around. Rita completed her performances at the second stage of the World Cup in Lisbon in an identical manner.

Soon Mamun took part in her first European Championship, which took place in Vienna. As part of the team, together with Daria Svatkovskaya and Yana Kudryavtseva, she won gold medals. In the individual competition, she took first place in exercises with a ribbon and came second three times in exercises with clubs, a hoop and a ball. In July 2013, at the Universiade in Kazan, Margarita won gold in the exercise with hoop, ribbon, clubs, as well as in the individual all-around, scoring 73.466 points.

At the World Cup finals in St. Petersburg, Mamun won gold in the all-around, exercises with clubs, hoop and ribbon, and she won silver in exercises with the ball.

At her debut World Championships in Kyiv in 2013, Margarita was considered the main favorite. She won two golds in exercises with a ball and clubs, and a bronze in hoop. But in the final of the exercise with the ribbon, she made a serious mistake and ended up finishing fifth. In the all-around final, Margarita made many mistakes and as a result took only sixth place.

Margarita Mamun is a Russian gymnast who won gold at the 2016 Olympics in 2016, a seven-time world champion, and a winner of international sports competitions and championships in rhythmic gymnastics.

Childhood and family of Margarita Mamun

Margarita was born on November 1, 1995 in Moscow. The athlete’s father is marine engineer Abdullah Al Mamun, originally from the Republic of Bangladesh. He died of cancer in August 2016. At the very beginning of the 90s, he came to the Soviet Union to study and at the Astrakhan Technical University he met his love - Anna, Margarita’s mother.

The girl has dual citizenship, and thanks to her Bengali roots, fans gave her the nickname “Bengal Tigress” (another, more affectionate one is “Mamunya”). Until the age of 10, she often traveled to her father’s homeland - in Bangladesh she was impressed by the bamboo thickets and lotus plantings, the ubiquitous cows and chickens that the locals kept instead of pets.

Mamun began practicing rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 7 - the Olympic village was located not far from the house where the girl’s family lived. Before that, she had briefly practiced figure skating, but she stopped because of her mother - Anna was afraid that her daughter would fall and break on the ice.

By today's standards, 7 years is a rather late age to start classes (4 years is considered the ideal age), but the baby was accommodated halfway. And, as it turned out, not in vain. The gap in skill between peers and the distrust of coaches only spurred the purposeful Rita.

Sports career of Margarita Mamun

In 2005, 10-year-old Margarita took part in the Miss Valentine Cup gymnastics competition, which was held in Estonia. In subsequent years, the girl competed once for the Bangladesh team (at a championship that was not held under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation), but then she always represented only Russia.

In 2006, a promising girl decided to connect her life with professional sports. The girl’s personal trainer was Amina Zaripova, Honored Master of Sports in artistic gymnastics and wife of musician Alexei Kortnev.

In 2011, Mamun became the Russian champion in all-around and apparatus exercises. In October 2012, Margarita again became the absolute champion of Russia, and then competed at the Aeon Cup World Club Championship, where she took 4th place in the individual all-around.

In 2013, the gymnast again received the title of Russian champion and automatically became the leader of the Russian team. Then Mamun took part in her first European Championships in Vienna. Margarita's team, which also included Daria Svatkovskaya and Yana Kudryavtseva, received gold medals.

In the summer of 2013, at the Kazan Universiade, Mamun received a gold medal in the apparatus exercise and in the individual all-around. The girl again showed brilliant results at the final stage of the World Cup in St. Petersburg, and at the World Championships in Kyiv and at the Aeon Cup in Japan

2014 was no less successful for the young gymnast - championship in the all-around at the Moscow Grand Prix, three-time medalist at the Grand Prix in Thieu, a “silver” place at the World Cup in Stuttgart, 4 medals in Minsk - and this is not the whole list. Margarita's only failure that year was her performance at the European Championships in Baku - the girl suffered three unfortunate losses and took only 5th place in the all-around.

The following year, Mamun again proved to the world that she is a real champion - gold, silver and bronze medals at all stages of the World Cup. The girl also confirmed her absolute leadership at the Japanese Aeon Cup and distinguished herself at the World Championships in Stuttgart.

Margarita Mamun at the Rio Olympics

Traditionally, starting 2016 with numerous victories at international tournaments and championships, the girl went to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Irina Viner-Usmanova became Mamun’s mentor in the national team. On August 20, 2016, Margarita took gold in the individual all-around, ahead of her main rival and friend, Yana Kudryavtseva, who was awarded a silver medal. The 20-year-old athlete scored 76.483 points based on the results of 4 exercises (hoop, ball, club and ribbon).

Margarita Mamun in Rio at the Olympics

Rita's victory came at a double price - in Rio she began to become dehydrated and her temperature rose to 39 degrees. Due to the treatment, she had to forget about training for a week.

“Of course, I'm happy. Overall I was calm. As Irina Viner says, she maintained Olympic calm.”

After the end of the Olympics, for her high achievements in sports, Margarita received the Order of Friendship and the Medal “For Strengthening the Military Commonwealth.” After the Olympics, the girl took a short vacation to rest and recuperate.

Death of Margarita Mamun's father

Rita, who returned home with a medal, was greeted by fans and parents. Her father held her award in his hands and was moved to tears. And two days later he was gone.

As coach Mamun later said, the father of the Olympic champion was slowly dying from a serious illness (according to information from open sources, it was oncology). When Rita flew to Rio de Janeiro, doctors gave Abdulla Mamun about two days to live. He lived for another two months - he witnessed his daughter’s victory, albeit on TV, and met her, congratulating her on the greatest achievement in the life of an athlete. It’s hard to call it anything other than a miracle. On September 8, 2017, the lovers signed at the registry office in Barvikha. The date was not chosen casually: their romantic relationship began on the 8th, on December 8th the Olympic Ball took place, at which Alexander proposed to Rita, and they submitted an application to the registry office on August 8th, that is, 8.08.

Margarita Mamun's wedding

Rita’s wedding was attended by her entire team - doctors, first coach, Irina Viner-Usmanova, physiotherapists and, of course, friends and relatives. Mamun considers Basta’s song “The Master and Margarita,” which her husband performed during the celebration, to be the most touching wedding gift. Margarita and Alexander spent their honeymoon in the Maldives.

Margarita Mamun now

After the Olympics, Mamun became the ambassador of the Italian brand Intimissimi in Russia. The girl said that she, who grew up in a Muslim family, has clear boundaries, but she still happily accepted the offer from a well-known company.
