Holidays for students in trimesters. Autumn holidays are approaching in Russian schools

For adults who work a standard five-day work week, New Year's holiday will be ten days this time. We love the New Year, among other things, because this holiday is exclusively a family holiday, and the first week of January is the time when all family members are free from work and study and can spend time together. Holidays for schoolchildren coincide with short holidays for adults. Let's figure out when the winter holidays of the 2017-2018 academic year begin in Russian schools, how long they will last when students need to return to school.

When will the winter holidays of the 2017-2018 academic year be in Russian schools

We have already said, talking about the autumn holidays in Russia, that in our country there is currently no unified vacation schedule for schoolchildren. Perhaps the lack of centralization in this matter will seem inconvenient to someone, but there is a certain reason for this. The Russian Ministry of Education only talks about some of the rules that must be followed when planning school holidays. The right to decide exactly when the children will rest is given to local educational authorities (departments, regional ministries, etc. departments, they are called differently in different regions of the country), and sometimes even to the director of a particular school.

The Federal Ministry of Education assumes that the local authorities know better how to properly organize the school holiday schedule.

Another nuance worth remembering is the various forms of organization of the educational process that currently exist in Russia. Theoretically, there can be a large number of these forms, but in fact two are accepted: the division of the academic year into quarters or trimesters.

What is four quarters, no one needs to explain. All Soviet schoolchildren studied according to such a system, and it still seems reasonable and convenient. Trimesters are a more complex thing, and you won’t be able to meet them in their pure form. It is clear that if the school year is divided into three parts and, accordingly, children are allowed to rest only twice during the school year, it will be difficult for schoolchildren to cope with this. Therefore, in fact, it turns out that in schools that work in trimesters, intermediate grades are indeed given for three trimesters, but the year is divided into six approximately equal parts - not only at the end of the trimester, but also in its middle, students are provided with a week's rest.

Winter holidays, however, differ in that they coincide in schools with different forms of organization of education. New Year's holiday is one of the central events of the calendar, so it must be taken into account when scheduling vacations in any school.

As for exactly when the winter holidays of the 2017-2018 academic year begin and end in Russia, the specific dates left to the discretion of local educational authorities differ slightly:

  • In Moscow, winter holidays for all schools are from December 31 to January 10.
  • In St. Petersburg, winter holidays are from December 28 to January 10.
  • Winter holidays in Tomsk from December 30 to January 10.
  • In Sarov (Nizhny Novgorod region) holidays from December 29 to January 9.

This list can be almost endless, we have given only a few examples that demonstrate how different the start and end dates of vacations are in schools in different cities of the country.

Speaking on average across the country, the winter holidays will begin on December 29-31 and end on January 9-10.

Holidays for schoolchildren for the new year will be slightly longer than for adults. Recall that working Russians will rest from December 30 to January 8. Children in most cases will go to school a day or two later.

The only advice we can give you is if your interest in winter vacation dates is not idle, but is related to planning family vacations, other trips, etc. - go to the website of the specific school where your children study. As a rule, there is such information on the school's website, and if it is not there, check this question with the school secretary or your child's class teacher.

Winter holidays in schools usually last about two weeks and the current academic year will not be an exception. Schoolchildren will have a rest in honor of the New Year holidays from December 26, 2018 to January 8, 2019.

There are additional holidays for first-graders - they will be held from February 25 to March 3. This is necessary in order to dose the load and not to overwhelm the baby with studies from head to toe. Such additional vacations will help those who are lagging behind catch up with the rest, and those who are already doing well with their studies will simply take a breath.

Vacation calendar 2018-2019

Each school can set the vacation schedule independently, adhering to the recommendations developed in legislative acts. Holidays in the summer should be no shorter than 8 weeks. And school holidays during the school year should not be less than 30 calendar days. Holidays must start on Monday and cannot be extended by more than 2 weeks.

The 2018-2019 academic year starts on September 1st. The educational process will last 34 weeks, excluding the final certification, and the holidays will last 18 weeks.

Besides, schoolchildren will have a rest during the days of public holidays.

School holidays on quarters. Moscow

  • Winter - from December 30, 2018 to January 8, 2019.
  • Additional holidays for first-graders - from February 16 to February 24, 2019.

School holidays on quarters. Saint Petersburg

  • Autumn holidays - from October 27 to November 5, 2018.
  • Winter - from December 29, 2018 to January 12, 2019.
  • Spring break - from March 23 to March 31, 2019.
  • Additional holidays for first-graders - from February 4 to February 10, 2019.

Each school can choose a vacation schedule on its own, but it is necessary to meet the deadlines.

Russia is a huge country. It happens that due to unforeseen circumstances (natural disasters, quarantine) children cannot go to school. If this continues for 3-4 days, then the students are able to catch up with the program. But in cases where students do not attend an educational institution for more than a week, it is possible to change the vacation schedule. Or some weekends can be made into training days.

How to organize a vacation

Before leaving for the holidays, all children must listen to instructions on how to behave properly during the holidays. Class teachers should explain to students what can and cannot be done.

A separate topic should be devoted to the rules of the road, since a large number of traffic accidents involving children occur during the holidays.

If the students go on summer vacation, parents must inform where and with whom their children will be. Before the summer holidays, parents must also listen to the briefing and sign for it.

What to do with kids on vacation

How fast children grow. More recently, a baby sniffled comfortably in the crib. He constantly needed love and care: feed, change clothes, calm down. Now he is already a schoolboy, a person, a person who is able to come home from school, change into home clothes, have something to eat, and even, if there is a mood, then wash the dishes and sit down for lessons. But it's too early for parents to relax. He is still a child and he needs the supervision and attention of his parents. Especially during the holidays, when a lot of free time falls on him. What you can do with your child during the holidays largely depends on the time of year they fall on.

Autumn vacation

The first since the beginning of the school year are the autumn holidays. Autumn is a very beautiful time of the year. So that the child can appreciate all its charm, take him to the forest or park. There, the child can be shown what kind of trees, shrubs and herbs grow in our area. Tell why the leaves fall in autumn and make a beautiful bouquet out of it. And at the same time, collect beautiful twigs, berries, cones and make fun crafts out of them, the ideas of which you can peep on the Internet or come up with something to your taste. Such products can be a great gift for grandparents or home decoration. They will help to keep the memory of a wonderful autumn day. Winter holidays follow the autumn holidays.

The winter vacation

In winter, it's time to get skis or skates from the mezzanines. If there is no money for a ski resort or an indoor skating rink, it does not matter. You can have a great time with a sled on the nearest hill or yard skating rink, if there is one. And having rolled enough to make a snowman, play snowballs or just lie in the snow.

Spring break

Spring break can also be spent outdoors. Put on rubber boots and become brave captains of paper boats that can be launched in the surrounding streams and puddles. Or go to the park to admire the nature coming to life after winter. If you collect a bouquet of twigs with buds and, having come home, put them in water, then soon tiny leaves will appear on them. Not only the child, but also adults will be happy to follow their gradual appearance.

Vacation in summer

Summer holidays are the longest and most suitable for outdoor recreation. Parents have the opportunity to come up with something new every day. Biking, rollerblading or walking. Hiking and kayaking on the river or relaxing on the beach. Football, beach volleyball or family picnics. Picking berries and mushrooms or reading a book on a park bench. It all depends on the temperament, physical abilities or just the mood of the parents and the child.

Holidays - periods of rest from study for schoolchildren.

In Moscow, the vacation schedule is set by the city Department of Education. It is the same for all schools.

The winter vacation

The period of winter school holidays depends on the system of education that is adopted at the school.

Students in quarters have a rest in the winter once: in late December - early January. Holidays last 10-14 days. First graders receive an extra one-week winter holiday in February.

Students in trimesters have a rest in winter twice: in late December - early January and in February. The first vacation lasts 10-14 days, the second - a week.

The temperature in classrooms is below +18 °С;

The epidemic threshold of morbidity exceeds 25% of the total number of students in the school.

The favorite time of all schoolchildren is the holidays, and the summer months come first in this regard. After all, we are talking about 90 days of complete freedom from study, constant homework and the need to get up for the first lesson. But there is another time no less expected by children - the winter holidays, during which everyone's favorite Christmas holidays take place. Since the government of the Russian Federation annually sets a new start and end date for this magical time, you should find out in advance exactly when it is worth waiting for the New Year holidays in 2018.

The long-awaited time

An important detail of the issue under consideration is the correspondence of the New Year holidays in schools with a trimester and quarter system of education. Such a long-awaited time partly corresponds to an extended weekend in honor of the New Year. It is at this time that not only schoolchildren can take a break from the constant educational need - adults also have an additional two weeks of “vacation”. Do you know what that means? Every Russian family has the opportunity to enjoy the holidays together. Perhaps that is why the announced period is considered the most long-awaited and unforgettable.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is no exact schedule for the winter holidays for the student, since the Ministry of Education usually resolves this issue a few weeks before the start of the new school year.

Nevertheless, with a regular calendar at hand, you can try to make a tentative winter vacation schedule.

In addition, it is easy to compare a similar time period with last year's version, so that the calculations are more plausible.

Winter timetable

Finding out how many days schoolchildren have New Year holidays in 2018, it is worth making the following assumptions. According to preliminary information, the future New Year holidays will start on December 25, 2017 and will continue until January 9 of the next one. By the way, additional time is allocated for junior classes for a full-fledged winter holiday - from February 19 to February 25. As a result, they will have to go to school on January 10, but only if the officials do not make their changes to the announced schedule. Otherwise, the new academic quarter and trimester will begin on January 9th.

Not so long ago, the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation prepared a special proposal, which refers to the possibility of postponing the winter holidays in 2018.

If such a project is approved by the deputies of the State Duma, the Russians will be able to fully celebrate the long-awaited Christmas time for only 10 days - from December 30 to January 8.

According to the announced transfer of holidays, the situation may look like this: January 6 and 7 are planned to be moved to March 9 and May 12. The government also wants to replace Saturdays on April 28, June 9 and December 29 (2018), with Mondays April 30, June 11 and December 31. It turns out that the following time periods will become additional days off for schoolchildren:

  • December 30–January 8 – 10 days;
  • February 23-25 - 3 days;
  • March 8-11 - 4 days;
  • April 28–May 2 – 4 days;
  • June 10-12 - 3 days;
  • November 2–5 – 3 days.

For the working class, this time is also considered desirable and expected, moreover, according to the current legislation, before the holidays, the working day should be reduced by 1 hour.

By the way, if someone did not know, it is Russia that is considered the country least of all "accustomed to work" - it has the largest number of non-working days and days off for all 12 months.

If the educational process of schoolchildren takes place in trimesters, the date of the New Year's weekend will be slightly different. So it was before. Now it is possible to combine both study options for more convenience for parents.

So, how we relax on New Year's Eve, it is clear how long this time will last, too. It remains only to wait for the end of summer to find out the exact schedule for the beginning and end of this wonderful winter season, filled with holiday surprises, pleasant surprises and bright fun.

Holidays are the most favorite time for students. And even those who left the walls of the school a long time ago remember the times of rest with a cheerful smile. Both students and their parents are waiting for a break in the educational process, but the autumn ones - the very first ones - are waiting with special impatience.

When does the holiday start

Many students, and their parents, notice that in different educational institutions the autumn holidays fall at different times. The reason for this discrepancy is the learning process adopted in each particular school. The academic year can be divided either into four parts - quarters, or three - trimesters. At the end of each part, there must be a short break. The 2018-2019 academic year is no exception.

For quarter schools

The minimum time allotted for rest in the fall is one week. Schools prefer to start their holidays on Monday and end on Sunday, respectively. This facilitates the process of load distribution, plus it helps schoolchildren to adapt more easily, to get involved in learning after a break.

As a rule, in institutions with a quarter system of education, the first holidays fall in October, most often in the last week of the month. The autumn holidays 2018-2019 will not be an exception - the rest will begin on October 29. But with the start date of the second quarter, some questions may arise.

The fact is that during the autumn holidays of the 2018-2019 academic year, National Unity Day falls - an important public holiday, and therefore a general day off. It is celebrated on November 4, Sunday. According to the law on the postponement of holidays, the day after the holiday will be a day off - Monday, November 5th. Thus, the holidays are extended for another day, and instead of seven days, schoolchildren will rest for eight whole days. And if we add to this the official weekend before the start of the holiday - Saturday October 27 (if the school has a five-day period) and Sunday October 28, then schoolchildren will have a rest in the fall for nine or even ten days.

Let's summarize:

  • Autumn holidays in 2018-2019 - from October 29 to November 5 inclusive.
  • The last day of school in the first quarter is October 26 or 27. The second quarter will start on November 6th.

For schools with trimester education

With trimester training, calculating the start of the break is somewhat easier. In this process, rest time and study time alternate with enviable regularity: four or five weeks of study are replaced by a week off. That is, a short break in the middle of the trimester and rest at the end of the trimester. It may seem to someone that with such a system of education there are more days off than with a quarter. In fact, the total rest time in both systems is almost the same - the difference can be literally a couple of days.

Students on the trimester system will be able to relax twice in the fall - at the beginning of October and at the end of November.

  • Autumn holidays 2018-2019 in the middle of the trimester - from 8 to 14 October
  • Autumn holidays 2018-2019 at the end of the trimester - from November 19 to 25.

School plans: study and recreation

How is the school year scheduled? Why does the school break fall on different dates every year? Is it really impossible once and for all to prescribe strict dates for the first and last days of rest in school rules, so as not to ask each year the question of when the rest will begin? Let's try to figure it out.

The school administration finally determines the time period for which there is a break in studies. This right is reserved for educational institutions at the legislative level. The reason is simple: schools do not always have the opportunity to follow the curriculum “from and to”, clearly following every letter and every number written in the documents. In fact, sometimes force majeure circumstances occur, due to which plans have to be adjusted already in the learning process. Accidents (for example, a break in a sewer or a heat pipeline), natural disasters (severe frosts or rains that threaten flooding), a state of emergency in the region, outbreaks of diseases (quarantine for influenza, for example) - there can be a lot of reasons. And so that the educational process does not suffer from force majeure, schools are left with the right to change the schedule - reducing or postponing the dates of the beginning and end of quarters or trimesters.

Before the start of the school year, the Ministry of Education issues an order specifying the total length of study time and rest time. So, in 2018-2019, a total of at least 30 days are allotted for holidays. And regardless of whether training is conducted in trimesters or quarters, students of all schools in the country for the whole year will have to rest for at least a month (not counting the summer break).
