Heavy briefcase. Knowledge load

It's no secret that children's bags are a heavy burden. "Real" schoolbags, with a vaunted orthopedic back, even when empty already weigh a lot. It is only in photographs on the Internet that a schoolboy looks touching and cute with a portfolio on his shoulder. In real school days, the knapsack swells to immense sizes: textbooks (most A4 size), reading books, workbooks, paints (gouache at least 9 colors), oilcloth for the table, if drawing, a uniform for physical education, a three-story pencil case (otherwise a neighbor has such than I am worse), notebooks, a folder for notebooks, a folder for work, a folder for music and a bunch of everything else they ask to bring.

Even before my child went to school, I paid attention to how the children go to school. Dad is walking in front: his hands are in his pockets, and the child is trailing behind him, bent in three deaths from the portfolio. Dad also "encourages": "Come on faster, we're late."

Even then I decided that my daughter's portfolio was primary grades I will wear it myself, and no arguments from other parents, like it is necessary to bring up independence, to wear it all my life, already big, this is his (her) duty, the orthopedic portfolio will not convince me. The child's health is more important, the portfolio is indeed a very serious load on the child's fragile spine, even if it is orthopedic 10 times and costs ... eleven thousand. The child still has to sit at the desk for several hours, and then at home for lessons. I see that by the end of the year many people have incorrect posture, their backs are stooped. But for some reason, parents do not see a threat in the school bag. Moreover, even some doctors claim that “wearing it correctly is completely safe”. It may be safe for someone, but children are different. Someone has a weak muscular system, someone lacks vitamins D and calcium (hello, residents of the northern regions), someone who grows too quickly provokes stoop, why add an unfavorable factor? Yes, someday the child will carry the whole "load of knowledge" on its own, but by that time it will grow up and get stronger.

In Europe, most schoolchildren carry their bags using a special trolley.

They gave us one. We used it twice, when we had to turn in all the books. Our roads are not European, but the most ordinary, Russian with potholes. At the school, the ramps at the entrance were installed only this year, and they had to drag a briefcase and a trolley to the third floor, since neither the elevator nor the ramps were ever conceived. When we walked home, half of the class ran after us, looked at the cart as if it were an elephant. A convenient thing, I really liked the cart, but there are no conditions in our school and the roads are bad, so we do not use it.

Not all parents are so reckless. This spring, I noticed how a car drove up to the school, a man got out of it, walked around the car, opened the door and gave his hand to his daughter-student, helped her out, took her briefcase, went to the entrance, opened the door, let her daughter go ahead, waited for her to change clothes shoes, helped her put on a briefcase, kissed her forehead and wished her a good day. I myself wanted to have such a dad. One mother at school also carried her son's briefcase all the time, talking with other parents, I casually praised her, they say, to take care of her child's health. I was told that her child had problems with the spine, and it was the children's orthopedist who forbade him to carry weights, including a briefcase.

When I was choosing a portfolio for my daughter, one of the main conditions was its weight. Therefore, I even paid attention to the "dogs" of the locks, in some models they are metal and weighty, why, extra load is asked. When my daughter got older, I began to look at the backpacks of high school students, and I liked them more than these "wineskins" of first graders. They are much lighter and simpler, and even cheaper. In the same Sportmaster you can buy them on sale with a big discount.

This year my daughter went to grade 4, today I myself carried her portfolio to school. She will still have to drag him to the third floor. I usually throw it on my shoulder, so it's more comfortable, even if it's an adult, but it's heavy for me too. I asked my daughter what the girls say in the class, are they teasing? My daughter replied, on the contrary, they almost envy: "You are good, mom helps." It is necessary to protect children's health even from the orthopedic portfolio.

Wearing an oversized portfolio affects vertebral column and internal organs, besides, the child is physically tired, he walks.

In the near future, this will lead to back pain, curvature of the spine, ruin posture and gait, and can cause sciatica and other diseases.

In addition to all of the above, omission is possible internal organs, this can be especially hard on the health of our girls - expectant mothers. That is why it is so important to comply with the requirements established by SanPiN.

The overweight of the knapsack increases danger of diseases of the joints of the hands... Children who constantly carry weights may develop flat feet. A heavy knapsack, like any other overwhelming load, increases the risk of injury, fatigue has a bad effect on the ability to work: a tired child cannot immediately start working, academic performance suffers.

The problem of the weight of the school bag is acute in many countries of the world.

4. The experience of foreign countries in solving the problem of reducing the weight of the portfolio

This problem is not only in our country. For example, in August 1996, the Ministry of Education Austria decided to limit the maximum weight of school bags and backpacks to 10% of the student's body weight.

In Taiwan have already created a 10-inch tablet PC that weighs just over a kilogram.

The Malaysian authorities announced their intention to replace textbooks with laptops a couple of years ago. They asked computer companies to develop a cheap and virtually weightless computer, costing no more than $ 50, that students could use from primary grades to the institute. You load the necessary disk into it - and you read the textbook, you don't even need a keyboard.

In America have long found a way out in a double set of training kit. In schools, each is assigned a personal box, in which the student can put everything that is required in the classroom. Very convenient - one set at home, another at school.

Schoolbags, without which it is impossible to imagine modern Russian students, are prohibited in many states of America. California law provides for decent fines for parents and schools for carrying portfolios, which can cause a curvature of the spine.

Schoolchildren there should only use rolling bags. Russian doctors are not so categorical, it is believed that a correctly selected portfolio will not only not spoil, but, on the contrary, will form a good posture.

In Europe they lighten the weight of portfolios in their own way - in the classroom, children are given sheets with the disclosed topic of the lesson and are provided with photocopies of the pages of the same textbook. They go to school light, and at home they file a school lecture in a folder.

In Russia are also thinking about replacing textbooks with technology. A variant of dividing the textbook into quarters is considered. This decision has its supporters and opponents.

The weight of the portfolio will become lighter, but the implementation of this idea will require a lot of money, and it will be difficult for the student to look into the material that has already been completed or still has to be completed (if not carrying all four parts of the textbook).

The academic year has already begun and the first troubles are most likely over. You can sit down and think calmly. For example, about how to lighten the portfolio with which the child goes to school every day. Students will also find some of these tips helpful.

1. First of all, it is worth look at the portfolio itself(or a knapsack or even a backpack - everyone calls it differently). It should not be too heavy, as a heavy backpack negatively affects the child's back and can cause both pain and various problems that have the potential to become chronic.

3. Himself backpack also shouldn't be too big and must be matched for height, buying it "for growth" is a bad idea. In particular, its lower part should not be more than 12 centimeters below the waist.

4. The straps should be adjusted so that the satchel fits snugly against the back, and its lower part rested on the lower back. The best straps are wide and padded. Hip belt options are rare but very good for a student's back health.

5. The weight of the backpack is also influenced by its own weight (surprise!), So give preference to relatively simple models and limit your child's desire to hang them in trinkets. 15 grams there, 50 grams here - a solid weight is gaining.

6. It is also worth proceeding from weight and acquiring school supplies ... A massive pencil case full of unnecessary pens - does a child really need it every day? In addition, spiral notebooks, especially plastic ones, are often lighter than bulky paper clip or glue notebooks.

7. Definitely worth it make sure that the child does not take extra academic subjects ... In very many cases, a child's portfolio can be easily lightened by a third by simply removing unnecessary textbooks, notebooks and albums. Many children take them "just in case" - this is bad both from the point of view of the excess weight of the portfolio, and based on the general ability of the child to organize.

8. When collecting a portfolio, teach your child that the heaviest textbooks and things should be as close to the back as possible... The closer to the outside, the lighter they should be.

9. If the school has the opportunity to leave some particularly heavy textbooks (and the teachers do not mind) it makes sense buy a copy of the textbook home with your own money and don't wear it to school at all. Your child's back health costs much more than a couple of tens of euros!

10. Finally, the weight of the knapsack, sometimes significantly, can be reduced if the child is taught to you should not take foreign objects to school... Toys, a camera, often even portable game consoles (which children just don't wear to school) - all this can and should be left at home. Even the phone. No, we don't touch the phone.

Briefcases, backpacks are necessary for children to carry everything they need to school. A portfolio for a student must be selected carefully, because every day your child will carry a diary, notebooks and textbooks in it, and such a heavy weight can cause significant harm to the child's posture.

As it became known according to the results of research, 80% of students go to school with too heavy portfolios. This can be bad for their health. Another problem: schoolchildren do not think about an orthopedic back, which should be in a portfolio in order to facilitate the work of the spine, but are motivated only by fashionable ones. modern design... Recently, high school students like to wear a briefcase on only one shoulder. If your child has a one-shoulder bag like a postman, ask him to wear it on a different shoulder each time.

What should be the portfolio?

A school backpack with harnesses on both shoulders is safe for posture because the weight of the backpack is evenly distributed over the shoulders. The presence of a tight back of the backpack (it is called orthopedic) and dense and soft harnesses helps to distribute the weight of the portfolio evenly on the shoulders and also on the back.

Whose portfolio is the heaviest?

It is common knowledge that middle school students carry the heaviest bags. The weight of junior school students' portfolios is also large, but often parents help these children. 9.3 kg is the average weight of an 11-year-old student's portfolio, which corresponds to 22% of the child's body weight.

How much should a briefcase weigh to be spine-safe?

According to experts, the portfolio should have a weight corresponding to 10% of the student's weight. That is, knowing how much a portfolio weighs and how much a student is, you can find out how safe such a portfolio is for his spine.

How the posture of a student is curved and what a healthy posture of a student looks like:

Can a school bag be lightened?

If it turns out that the portfolio weighs too much, it is worth reviewing its contents with the student. Most often, in a child's backpack you can find not only the necessary things, but also those that can be left at home. If nothing superfluous was found, and the portfolio is still heavy, we advise you to discuss the possibility of your student sharing textbooks with a neighbor at the desk.

Young schoolchildren can agree on which books to carry to school, then the portfolio will become easier. And the guys will not be without a textbook on the desk. If possible, you can purchase a spare set of textbooks, which will be in the school, in student lockers or in the teacher's utility room.

It is also worth explaining to the student how to properly sit at the study table:
