Stops, Dmitry Mikhailovich (1828-1899) - Russian restorer and archaeologist.

Born in Moscow in the family of Mikhail Danilovich Strukov, from twelve years, who studied at one of the best tailors - Gusev. In 1830, during cholera, the family moved to Nizhny Novgorod, and in five years - in Verkhoturia, then - to Nizhny Tagil. Upon returning to Moscow, in 1840 Dmitry Stops entered the drawing school (later the famous Stroganov School). In the fourth grade of the school, at the invitation of the head of the village of Lyubertsy, he wrote an image in the iconostasis of the local church and the pencil portrait of the very older; I drew a lot from nature.

In 1864, Vilen Governor General Count M. N. Muravyov invited Storm to participate in the artistic expedition in the North-West Territory. The main task of the expedition was "Slavping in the region of ancient Russian monuments or at least traces of those of them, which in the blind hatred of Orthodoxy and Russian nationalities were destroyed." During the expedition, the artist sketched with color watercolor preserved monuments of culture and architecture; The appearance of many architectural monuments is now known for the work of D. M. Strukov.

From the notes and drawings of the structure of Dmitry Mikhailovich about Mazyr,

Mozyr and Slutsk County 1864-1867

The city located on the mountains of the steep bank of the Pripyat River. They told that the city exists de 1000 years, and in many places there were failures in the crypts and underground moves. Point places, but I could not explore. Of the antiquities, almost nothing survived, excluding some things in the cathedral iconostasis: the royal doors are different 17th century, the image of the Strassful Blessed Virgin Mary of Good Icon Letter 16 or 17th century. Cadyl in the form of Greek Caces, Antimonds signed by Sylvester, Metropolitan of Kiev Away (1759). Apr.8. And on the temple an ancient cross rail (Figure 144).

On the church of the image in the riza and two images of an icon writing, pretty good work.

Church on the mountain under the cemetery, where there are ancient round monuments. With barely seen letters and numbers, but nothing can be read.

Pyatnitskaya church, very beautiful architecture of the 18th century, the iconostasis of a rather elegant style of the same time, especially good royal doors. From the number of liturgical books there are handwritten 17th century. From things survived the ancient beat, iron (Figure 145), which was used instead of the bell.

The place of the spring, Mozyr County, near the border of Volyn, the legend says that there was a "Scarbney" on the border of Voloni and Belarus, i.e. It seems of customs, examined SKARB.

Currently, there is a church (Figure 146) with a wonderful iconostasis of the 17th century (Figure 147), on the temple an ancient cross (Figure 148). From this temple begins and the other nature of Orthodoxy begins, where almost no images are already found in the essence of Latin.

The village of Luchinichi, in the temple, although there is nothing wonderful, but for the characteristics of the churches architecture, I apply Figure 149.

Sopotkevichi Place, they say before the soot was called, was the city had five churches, at present (...) two images of the Orthodox style of the 16th century and the Orthodox church of very beautiful architecture with a carved iconostasis of the 18th century, and the temple is crowned with very beautiful crosses, one of them Figure 150 .

Porechye village is not far from the village, looking for treasies, and giving the name of some Pan or Prince Rostislava, who came to hunting in the surrounding area. The old church of the restructuring of the 1830s is a very ugly form and inside anything significant does not have a drawing of a new temple (Figure 151).

In 14 versts from Praven, the Church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul in the village of Bubnovka, although it is very poor, but the gospel of small sized handwritten on paper 15 centuries has been preserved. From the wonderful Gospel is the only one for two churches and until now is as needed. Not far from the Bubnovka village of Koshachi, near the village are looking for treasures. The church was built in the 17th century (Figure 153), the iconostasis of the carved 18 century, the image of the same time and wonderful (...).
