How to say ('if you say so'), Which Will Launch April 4, Is a Virtual Textbook and Workbook Built Around Video Clips That Feature Hse Faculty and Students.

Now the lectures of the project in Moscow museums will be united into thematic cycles and take place not only on Thursdays, but also on other days. The first cycle dedicated to life in Russia of the XIX century starts today in the House-Museum "Manor of the Murai-Apostles", and a week later, at the Museum of Cosmonautics, HSE teachers will begin to talk about space technologies.

To narrow the results of the search results, you can specify the request, specifying the fields for which search. List of fields is presented above. For example:

You can search for several fields at the same time:

Logically operators

The default operator uses And..
Operator And. means that the document must comply with all elements in the group:

study Development

Operator Or. This means that the document must correspond to one of the values in the group:

study Or. Development

Operator Not. Excludes documents containing this item:

study Not. Development

Search type

When writing a query, you can specify the method for which the phrase will be sought. Four methods are supported: Search for morphology, without morphology, search for prefix, search phrase.
By default, the search is made taking into account morphology.
To search without morphology, in front of words in the phrase, it is enough to put a dollar sign:

$ study $ development

To search for the prefix you need to put an asterisk after the request:

study *

To search the phrase you need to enter into double quotes:

" research and development "

Search for synonyms

To include in the search results, the words need to put a lattice " # "Before the word or before expressing in brackets.
In applied to one word for it will be found to three synonyms.
In applied to expression in brackets, it will be added synonym for each word if it was found.
Not combined with search without morphology, search for prefix or search by phrase.

# study

Grouping

In order to group search phrases you need to use brackets. This allows you to manage the milk logic of the query.
For example, you need to make a request: to find documents from which the author of Ivanov or Petrov, and the title contains words research or development:

Approximate word search

For approximate search you need to put a tilda " ~ "In the end of the word from the phrase. For example:

bromine ~

When searching, words as "brom", "rum", "prom", etc. will be found.
You can additionally specify the maximum number of possible revows: 0, 1 or 2. For example:

bromine ~1

By default, 2 edits are allowed.

Criterion intimacy

To search by the criterion of proximity, you need to put a tilda " ~ "At the end of the phrase. For example, in order to find documents with the words research and development within 2 words, use the following query:

" study Development "~2

Relevance of expressions

To change the relevance of individual expressions in the search, use the sign " ^ "At the end of the expression, after which, indicate the level of relevance of this expression in relation to the rest.
The higher the level, the more relevant this expression.
For example, in this expression, the word "study" is four times relevant to the word
study ^4 Development

By default, the level is 1. Valid values are a positive real number.

Search in the interval

To specify the interval in which the value of some field should be, the boundary values separated by the operator should be specified in brackets To..
A lexicographic sorting will be made.

Such a request will return results with the author, ranging from Ivanov and ending with Petrov, but Ivanov and Petrov will not be included in the result.
In order to enable the value to the interval, use square brackets. To exclude the value, use curly brackets.

Introduction to work

Thesis is a lexico-typological analysis of the semantics of verbs describing the movement along the circular trajectory, on the material of 15 languages: Russian, Polish, Serbian, Spanish, English, Norwegian, Welsh, Tatar, Turkish, Komi-Zyryansky, Kalmyk, Agul, Japanese, Chinese , Hindi. Her purpose It is the study of the principles of organizing the semantic field of rotation and proof of the systemic nature of vocabulary on the example of the lexical zone of rotation verbs.

The relevance of research

Modern studies in the field of typology are focused mainly on the phenomena lying on the grammatical level of the language [Stoskovsky 1992, GIVN 1990]. This is explained by the fact that traditionally vocabulary is considered to be less regular zone, for which the construction of system classifications is possible only in limited groups (such as, for example, the names of kinship, Wed [Yelmslev 1962]). Unlike grammatical, lexical oppositions do not have formal indicators, and the search for an object of the study (components of the lexical meaning) is a separate task (see [Plunjan, Rakhilina 2007, Koptjevskaja-Tamm 2009]).

However, interest in the typological study of vocabulary increases every year, CP. For example, a whole series of monographs of the very last time, edited by John Newman on the verbs of the transfer, position and food or projects of the Max Planck Institute of the Institute, see above all "Cutting & Breaking".

The fact is that the linguistics has already accumulated extensive experience of comparative study of morphological and syntactic phenomena, which has now become possible to transfer to a new, lexical level. Indeed, by now, lexicographic sources that simplify work at the initial stages of the typological study have been significantly improved, - however, the most significant step forward was the emergence of electronic builds of texts, which provided researchers not only access to large data arrays, but also a variety of opportunities for their analysis. In view of this, today the lexical typology turned out to be one of the most relevant and dynamically developing areas of linguistics, and our work was carried out in line with this direction. In addition, the dissertation fits well in the context of cognitive works - the relevance of which is also no doubt - devoted to the study of the mental activity of a person, its relationship with the language mechanisms and methods of language membership of reality [Jackainoff, Landau 1999; Talmi 2000, and MN. Dr.].

Novelty of research

And yet, attempts by a systemic description and comparison of multivalued vocabulary in different languages While units, among them the verbs of perception ('hear', 'see'), the verbs of mental activity ('think'), adjective measurements ('wide', 'short' etc.). Even in the Moscow Semantic School, well-known for its lexico-semantic traditions, the focus is on the descriptions of individual lexemes (lexicographic portraits), CP. Article about the verb go out [Apresan 1990], as well as their private values - in comparison with quasicinonyms [nosed].

As for contrastive studies of vocabulary, the practice of which is indeed very widespread - mainly as a comparison with a large and well-documented language-benchmark (English, French, Russian and under.) Or a comparison of related languages, cf. Articles about semantic parameters of the lexeme spectatic perception In English and Yiddish, about the analysis of the English and Taareneg proverbs using a natural semantic metalanka, about the adjective taste in English and French - then, as a rule, they are local in nature and do not set the goal to present the analysis of the material so fully and deeply that its results are Apply to data of some other languages. An exception in this sense is the work [Rakhilina, Prokofiev 2004], dedicated to the verbs of rotation. Made on a small material of only two, and also related languages - Polish and Russian, it, nevertheless, asked a whole program of a new wide vocabulary-typological study, the implementation of which is actually the present dissertation.

Her novelty - in system approach To the extensive linguistic material (15 languages), before never studied in the typological perspective, in developing a unified description of the description and a single format for the presentation of the data obtained in all languages, and as a result, in comparability of the descriptive results obtained, which allowed us to analyze the outbag structure of the semantic field of rotation.

The novelty of the study consists in the applied method - contextual analysis of lexical units.

Research methods

Since the lexical typology is a new, recently emerging direction, its tools is not yet developed enough, and the search for optimal equipment for collecting, processing and presenting the material is currently being searched. Among the largest directions, within which the vocabulary is studied in the Tiological Outlook, it is possible to name the study of lexical units in terms of their grammatical behavior, which is actively developing in Canada John Newman; psycholinguistic direction with centers in the NetherlandsNEmegen and Australian, Kanberra; The extensive tradition of historical and typological studies, which are the bright representatives of which the center in Tubingen, in which Peter Koh works, and, of course, the Department at the Institute of Slavic Science RAS (now the S. M. Tolstoy), based on the traditions of the Moscow Ethnolinguistic School, founded by Nikita Ilyich Tolstoy; The statistical direction at which the Center specializes in the Uppsa University, headed by the Oka Vieberg and the Lexico-Typological Center in Voronezh University under the direction of A.A. Cretova.

Lexical typology is a relatively young direction, therefore it is not surprising that many researchers turn to the experience gained in the framework of the already established tradition of grammatical typology, and tolerances applied in this area to the study of vocabulary. So, collective monographs edited by John Newman, dedicated to the verbs of the transfer, the verbs of the position and verbs of food and drink, the authors of which are trying to demonstrate that basic verbs with simple, in their opinion, the values can play a significant role on different levels Language, and not only function as ordinary lexemes, but also actively participate in the formation of various kinds of structures. From the point of view of our problem, the limitation of this approach lies in the fact that the study of semantics of individual groups of verb is understood not as a comprehensive disclosure of their significance and contextual behavior, but as an explanation of the implementation of formal semantic characteristics (eg, transitionality, statistivity) in the functioning of the lexeme. Another common obstacle to a large-scale typological study on the basis of similar works is the absence of a single analysis scheme of a lexeme, in accordance with which the same phenomena would be considered in each language.

This problem is trying to solve specialists from the psycholinguistic center at the Institute. Max Planck. The psycholinguistic direction, within the framework of which they work, goes back to classic work on the semantics of color values - first of all, etc., and relies on the use of visual or other sensually perceived images (video clips, smells, tastes) in the process of working with the subject. An example is the project on the verbs of destruction, where the informants were asked to choose a lex that describes a video, which demonstrates one or another type of cutting or breaking items. The defect of this method is its fragment: only the predetermined and expected parameters are investigated, i.e. Only those limited situations with a certain set of participants and relations between them, which are already included in the visual series. For new data, it is actually closed.

Cliff Godard and A. Woolbitska represent another lexico-typological school, and another methodology. In their research, they rely on introspection - their own intuition and intuition of expert informants. In this case, there is a problem of insufficient objectivity and insufficient completeness of data related to the limited sources.

The accuracy and clarity of the analysis of language material can be achieved by applying the methods of quantitative lexicology [Titov 2002, 2004]. They give good results, in particular, when the cores of lexical systems are allocated, i.e. The values lying in the center of semantic fields and reflecting typologically relevant features of lexico-semantic systems are precisely on them to be focused further typological studies of vocabulary. The parameteric core of the system is highlighted in four signs: functional (consumption), syntagmatic (broad compatibility), epidigmatic (multi-consciousness), paradigmatic (entry into numerous synonymic series) [Tits, Kretov, Merkulov 2011], which allows the most fully to reflect all the features of the functioning of the lexeme And guarantees high accuracy of the results. The use of quantity techniques is possible in the study of synonymy [Kings, Titov 2006], which is particularly valuable for our research.

Systemic comparison of vocabulary is carried out in a broader perspective - in line with modern ethnolinguistic studies. This area has been particularly developed for Slavic languages, largely due to the research conducted at the Slavovsky Institute, aimed at a comprehensive study of links between language and culture, including, in particular, the reconstruction of the language painting of the world. The analysis of semantics is made with a support for the inner form of the word and its motivational bonds, which are disclosed by comparing a set of lexemes in one language and a set of values that develop from its cogs in other Slavic languages. Thus, a number of adjectives were analyzed (first of all carive - for example, 'dry', 'fresh', 'empty') [Tolstaya 2008], verbs, for example, related to the burial vocabulary [Tolstaya 2009], semantics named [Assumption 2007] , ethical vocabulary [Yakushkin 2003]. The largest projects are the ethnolinguistic dictionary "Slavic antiquities" [Tolstoy 2008] and the Slavonic Linguistic Atlas [Vendinian 2007]. To solve our problem, this approach is particularly valuable, because Gives an extensive toolkit towards multivalued vocabulary [Tolstaya 2008B].

Our technique uses all available sources: Dictionaries (both bilingual and intelligent), electronic text enclosures, information polls on specially developed questionnaires - all these sources serve material of our researchwhich provides maximum latitude and at the same time the accuracy of the collected data. All of these sources, if possible, are involved in the description of the combination of verbs of interest to us, and on the basis of the analysis of the obtained contexts reflecting the linguistic behavior of the lexemes under consideration, the possibilities of interchanger and prohibitions in them, we reconstruct semantically relevant signs for the selected lexical zone. Here we rely on more than 50 years of experience in the Moscow Semantic School, accumulated in the field of study of the Quasi-Sinonimov (see [Apresan 1974/1995, TKS 1985, Apresan 2007, 2009], etc.). Such a "transfer" of internal speaking principles of analysis to typological is quite legitimate, because, in a sense, all verbs of one semantic field, regardless of the language, are quasi-synonyms.

Object of study

In our case, the object of the study is the field of verbs of rotation, the volume of which, in the aggregate for all 15 surveyed languages, is 80 lexes: in each language system, 3 to 8 units operate. This field is convenient for typological analysis - on the one hand, the structure of it is short enough, in contrast, for example, from a swimming field, which can be represented by one verb, and the system is considered to be more than four verbs (cf.). On the other hand, its elements are not so numerous, and in general it is not arranged as difficult, as, for example, the field of emotional verbs or verbs of pain [Brischin et al. 2009].

Another advantage of verbs of rotation as an object of a wide typological study is that they belong to a specific vocabulary, found in all languages and do not carry pronounced cultural specificities, so they are not related to the geographical and climatic features of the area (cf. here difficulties arising from typological description of the names of landscape objects B), etc.

For a lexico-typological description of verbs of rotation, the following must be solved. tasks:

create inventory cognitively relevant frames, i.e. simplest situations that can be encoded by separate lexical units;

identify groups of close frames that can be expressed by the same verb lexee, and determine the strategies for which their "bonding" occurs;

determine the general structure of the semantic field of rotation and the options for its implementation in specific languages, reflecting them on the semantic map;

create an inventory of individual semantic parameters that determine the lexingization of rotation and claiming entry into a kind of "universal lexical set" (by analogy with a universal grammatical set - see [Plunyan 2000]);

reconstruct the system of semantic shifts developing in verbs of rotation;

to identify groups of the source uses that provide sustainable results of metaphorical transfers, and determine semantic parameters, "responsible" for the development of each new value.

The successful solution of the tasks assigned allows not only to prove the systemicity of this semantic field in natural language, but also to polish new techniques for working with vocabulary and determine the circle of theoretical issues available for consideration within the framework of lexical typology as a whole - this is theoretical significance represented dissertation.

Her practical significance Determined by the completeness of the lexicographic description of the rotation field immediately for several languages. This result will be in demand both in vocabulary and in the practice of technical and artistic translation, as well as in pedagogical practice - in particular, when drawing up learning and methodical manuals According to lexicology.

Approbation

On the thesis, reports were read on the III International Conference of Spainsts (Moscow, 2008), 5 International Conference on Contrast Linguistics ICLC5 (Louven, 2008), 8 International Conference of the Alt8 Linguistic Type Association (Berkeley, 2009), at the conference "Dialog 2010" (Moscow, 2010), II International Conference "Russian Language and Literature in International educational space"(Granada, 2010), 6 Conferences on Celtic Languages CLC6 (Dublin, 2010), the International Scientific Conference" Problems of Lexico-Semantic Tyology "(Voronezh, 2010).

Structure

The thesis consists of the introduction, four chapters, conclusion, bibliographies and applications. The first chapter covers the current state of lexico-typological studies. The second chapter is devoted to the semantic features of the verbs of rotation against the background of other verbs of the method of movement. The third chapter presents the detailed description of the systems of 15 languages. The fourth chapter provides an analysis of the organization of this semantic field, a number of typological generalizations relating to the device of direct verb values, and the classification of portable values of rotation verbs in languages. In conclusion, the general conclusions of the work are outlined. Applications contain questionnaires designed to survey informants, and the table of semantic shifts of rotation verbs.
