Brown eyes heat. Rudyard Kipling

Introduction

With the name of the Reddard Kipling, his fairy tales "Ricky-Tikki-Tavi" and "Jungle Book" come first to mind. It is one of the most famous works, and in both the action takes place in the India far.

No wonder, because Joseph Reddard Kipling was born in India, in Bombay. After spending five happy years of his life there, he went to England. Returned only after 17 years, in October 1882, when it settled on the work of the journalist in the editorial office of the "Civil and military newspaper" in Lahore.

A little later - in 1986, the first poetic collection of Kipling, "Departmental Ditties and Other Verses", and in it - the poem "The Lovers" Litany "(" Litania of Lovers "), the disorders of which is dedicated to my term paper.

My goal is to show the difference between the translations of the same poem depending on the use of nouns in them in the first place. Course work It consists of joining, four chapters and conclusion.

The first chapter is devoted to the original poem, its history and detailed analysis, the second chapter - the analysis of the transfer of Basil Betaki, the third - Constantine Simonova, the fourth is allocated to summarize and statistical comparison.

Volume of work 9 pages in Word format, font size - 12, interval - 1.

Chapter first. Original.

Work in the provincial newspaper is not difficult work. She went out six times a week, and the more welcome was the annual holidays in the beloved British Place the Simle, where it was possible to escape from the scorching heat. In one of these vacations, "The Lovers" Litany "-" Litania of Lovers "was written.

Litania is special form Prayers, where at the end of each sentence the same phrase is repeated. In our case, it is not "Lord Homes!", And "Love Like Ours Can Never Die!" - "Such love, like ours, never will die!".

The Lovers "Litany

Eyes of Gray - A Sodden Quay,

Driving Rain and Falling Tears

AS THE STEAMER WEARS TO SEA

IN A PARTING STORM OF CHEERS.

Sing, for Faith and Hope Are High -

None SO True As You and I -

Sing the Lovers "Litany: -

Eyes of Black - A Throbbing Keel,

Milky Foam To Left and Right;

Whispered Converse Near The Wheel

In The Brilliant Tropic Night.

Cross That Rules The Southern Sky!

Stars That Sweep, And Wheel, and Fly,

Hear the lovers "Litany: -

"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

EYES OF BROWN - A Dusty Plain

SPLIT AND PARCHED WITH HEAT OF JUNE,

Flying Hoof and Tightened Rein,

Hearts That Beat. the Old., OLD TUNE.

Side by Side The Horses Fly,

Frame We Now The Old Reply

Of the lovers "Litany: -

"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

EYES OF BLUE - THE SIMLA HILLS

Silvert With The Moonlight Hoar;

PLEADING OF THE WALTZ THAT THRILLS,

Dies and Echoes Round Benmore.

"Mabel", "Officers", "good-bye",

Glamor, Wine, and Witchery -

On my soul "s sincerity,

"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

Maidens, of Your Charity,

Pity My Most Luckless State.

Four Times Cupid "S Debtor I -

Bankrupt in Quadruplicate.

Yet, Despite This Evil Case,

An A Maiden Showed Me Grace

Four and Forty Times Would I

Sing the Lovers "Litany: -

"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

The poem is divided into five stanz, at the end of each repeated by the refined one and the same phrase, and the stanza themselves are like cells in the artist's palette.

The first is given to the sputum of gray paint, in grey colour Everything is painted here: gray eyes, gray, wet promenade, a sad bad weather - rain, tears of farewell, storm and steamer ... Vera and hope - also painted in gray, no more displaceable black, but also not joyful white. But in the name they are singing a litany of all lovers - "Such love, as ours, will never die!".

The second cell, that is, stanf is black, the color of the burning passion.

How hot is angry summer nightsWhen the whole world is hidden from strangers when love and passion reign ... After the sermost farewell on the pier, the black color of the southern night brought a new love with black eyes, and everything turned into black, everything disappeared under the pellery darkness: and steamer, and foam along Side, only shines in the embroidery South Cross, only heard whisper. And the Litany of Lovers is heard - "Such love, like ours, never will die!".

The third structure of the cell - and the eyes are already brown, and everything was painted in brown. Dusty steppe, the June heat, Kaored Koni carry in the distance of two. And the hooves seek in unison with hearts - "Such love, like ours, never die!".

But here is the fourth stanza - and more calm blue colour. These are the mountains around the symbol, silver plated by the lunar light, these are waltzes, so popular then - "Mab", "officers", "goodbye", this wine, shine and charm. Blue - the color of romance, and the blue eyes of the partners will invade the soul of the poet: "Such love, as ours, will never die!".

But everything ends, and the fifth stanza seems to mix the previous ones, sums up - "Four times I am the debtor of Amur - and four times bankrupt." Four unsuccessful love stories, but if there was still a girl who manifested the favor to the poet, he is ready for forty four times to pass the Litany of Lovers: "Such love, like our, will never die!".

Thus, Kipling tells us four color, monochrome stories, draws pictures different color, withdrawing everything in one result. Who knows, possibly, with a different coincidence, we would see the picture in green? ..

As if puzzles, a picture of individual pieces is going, and here we are already together with the poet - say goodbye on a gray pier with your beloved, we are going to passion in the southern night, rushing side by side on the dusty plain and dance waltz among the hot mountains covered.

Chapter Second. The most accurate translation.

The lovers "Litany" kipping poem ("Litany"), impregnated with romance, enjoys and enjoyed great popularity in Russia. So one of the first of his translations made Vasily Betaki. Here, the word "Litania" for us was just a "prayer", But the structure of the poem remained the same. Here it is:

Prayer lovers

Gray eyes… And so -

Boardswet pier

Rainwhether? Tearswhether? Furster.

And leaves steamer.

Ours youth of the year

Veraand Hope? Yes -

Sorry prayerall lovers:

Love? So forever!

Black eyes... silence!

Whisperw. sturvalalasts

Foamalong bortovjet

IN shinetropical night.

South Crosstransparent ice,

Again falls star.

Here prayerall lovers:

Love? So forever!

Carie eyes- spacious,

Steppe, sideabout siderush koni.,

AND heartsin olden tone

Lt. topot echo Mountains

And stretched bridle,

And B. earssounds then

Revenge prayerall lovers:

Love? So forever!

Blue eyesHills

Silver moon light,

And trembling Indian in summer

Waltzhoneying in dutch darkness.

- OfficersMabel... when?

Witchcraft, wine, silence,

This sincerity recognized-

Love? So forever!

Yes ... N. a lifelooked frowning

Made by me: After all, here -

All in debtbefore Amur

I am four times bankrupt!

And my wines?

If b again at least one

Smiled favorably

I would forty times then

Spere prayerall lovers:

Love? So forever!

Litania is modified here, refrain already sounds like a question and answer to him: "Love? So forever! ". Meaning and style is transmitted with minor changes. Again painted in the gray "Wet Board", Gray Rain - Or Tears? Farewell as if tightened with clouds, sadness, gray paint longing. Gray steamer goes away and immediately - "our youth of the year" - they depart, remain on the pier, along with faith and hope? And only sounds life-affirming "love? So forever! ", Forcing us faster, go to the next chapter of life, to the next color.

It would seem, what stylistic techniques use the author? The listing of nouns draws a picture before us, as if in the old black and white film. Rain is identified with tears - or tears with rain? And together with the exhaust ship, years of youth, leaving only faith and hope.

The second structure as if built on the contrast - the black color of the southern night and the bright brilliance of stars. "Silence!" - the author calls us ... or not us, and the girl with black eyes, and now hears the whisper at the steering wheel, the black foam rushes along the sides and - here it is, the contrast - "in the brilliance of the tropical night" - the southern cross "Ice transparent", "Star falls from the sky" - perhaps a hint that you can make a desire? "Love? So forever! ".

How the south night is attached to the shine of stars - but does she glitter? So the constellation of the southern cross becomes transparent, even more transparent than ice.

The third stanza is and we rush together with horses around the hot june steppe, and in the ears, along with the trap hoofs and the hearts of the hearts, the prayer of lovers is heard - "Love? So forever! ".

Here the picture becomes even more interesting: "... and hearts in an old tone echo echo of the mountains." What a complex image! After all, the topot of the hoofs of horses racing along the fierce of the indian steppe, not just "fards," repeats the echo (although usually the opposite is normal), and also in the old tone. And, however, is love - not an old, tested feeling? Didn't it be a hundred, two hundred, a few thousand years ago? ..

This storage is the fastest, the brightest, most energetic in the whole poem. How the words sound: space, hopot, echo of the mountains ... Do they do not paint the fast, dynamic picture?

The fourth stanza is a smooth transition to blue, on the waltz. There is already a romance of another, mountain night, where the high moon is illuminating with silver hills. It sounds waltz - witchcraft, mounted ...

Here the hills, as if silver plated by the lunar light - how beautiful! But do we get used to snow lying on the hills? Of course, around the symbol - the mountains, but what you will not do for the sake of a beautiful image. And how beautiful to imagine that the moon stains the tops of the hills in silver color, and not dangerous and high snow-covered peaks. Yes, and "trembles the Indian summer waltz, making darkness." In these rows, a lot of things are also hidden: and the dark nights of Indian, hot summer, and waltz, configuring their sounds to the desired way. He trembles, as if the air is in a heat, trembling, as if the hero's heart from sight, feelings, touching the next love.

"Officers", "Mab" is just the names of Waltz, and only silence will be on the answer. But such eloquent: "Love? So forever! "

And again the fifth stanza sums up a disappointing result. True, forty-four kipling decreases to forty, but is it important? "All in debt in front of Amur" - alas, a lady Cupid Angel, the God of Love does not ask what time to send his arrow. And we have to beautiful feeling, And Kipling - and more than once.

Four lived novels, four partings and hope for the future. And the prayer will sound for lovers as much as our planet will spin, how much we will live on it. And love.

Chapter Three or what everything went.

The second translation of the poem "The Lovers" Litany "is perhaps the least accurate, but at the same time the most brief. Konstantin Simonov moved at all from the style of kipling, and this poem can not be called prayer. Therefore, it became known on the first line:" Gray eyes - dawn. "

Gray eyes - dawn

Gray eyes- dawn,

Shipping siren,

Rain, parting, grey track

Per screwrunning foam.

Black eyes- heat,

IN seasleepy stars slip,

And u bORT.before in the morning

Kisses reflections.

Blue eyes- moon,

Waltzawhite silence,

Daily wall

Inevitable fast.

Carie eyes- sand,

Fall, wolf. steppe, hunting,

Jump, all on hair

From padenaand flights.

No, I do not judgefor them,

Just without judgmentsdamn

I'm four times debtor

Blue, gray, brown, black.

Like four parties

One of the same sveta,

I love - there is no guilt-

All four of these colors.

There are no longer large colorful revolutions, only the listing, but it transmits as much as the original, and the translation of the betaci.

The structure itself is different here. Each color of the eye includes a whole picture, a captured moment. Captured by fragmentary words. Short, accurate noun strokes.

Abundance of them immediately striking. Here the color transmits all - gray eyes and gray rain, separation, a trace of the sea from the outgoing steam, foam on the water.

The second structure - and transferred more atmosphere than images. Here the sea is already sleepy stars, the southern cross is forgotten, like a whisper. Here are only kisses until the morning ... and who says something about the equator?

Again, sleepy, lazy stars are also an image that can convey the beauty of the South Night. I note that there is still a hint of movement - because the stars slide on the sea, and, it means that we ourselves are moving, only very, very slowly. And the sea - the sea peers after all that is going on on the deck, as kisses are reflected in the water all night - until the morning ...

The blue eyes - the moon and the same waltz, but at the same time, and the "daily wall of the inevitable farewell" - what Kyiling has a word. But the "Waltz white silence" - Waltz silent ... Why? It is possible that in such minutes you do not need words and music will tell everything for yourself. Without words ... But why then - white? Whether white dresses are ladies, or here again plays the role of beauty-sorceress of the moon, painting the ballroom in white color? Or silence - is it just when nothing to say? There are no words, because they are not needed - why are the conversations for those who know exactly that soon it will dispel? Therefore, inevitable, inevitable, daily wall of this inevitable farewell, which comes after each melody - and after rest in the mountains of the symbol.

But the next stanza is filled with noun. Their enumeration gives the dynamics passage, as if hottot hoofs: sand, autumn, steppe, hunting, jump, "all on the hairs from the paddy and flight." And we are flying, tear away from the ground.

Here the wolf is a desert, hot, naked steppe, and a jump - whether there is a fall, or the flight is not to understand immediately because there is an interesting turn "... on the hairs from the paddy and the flight." Horses fly, carry - then up, then down, and not understand, fall or fly. So in love that surrounds in the karem color of our hero - whether the fall, or the flight, whether the fragile face.

But the fifth building of Kipling at Simonov was divided into two. And here is another attitude of the lyrical hero. He is four times the debtor is not Amur, but the eye is "blue, gray, brown, black". And then admits: "I love - there is no guilt - all four of these colors," self-confidently and recklessly, as can only young people who have not scored cones and pessimism of the world.

Simonov draws a picture short, precise strokes, it's like retelling the work of kipling, his poem is not a translation, but summary. This is no longer a prayer, like a betaci, this is an independent work. Where is India? Where the Mountains of Siml, where "Mabel" and "Officers" ...

But they are there, they hide in thin features. Get away away, take a look from another angle - and here it is a full picture. And also, painted in gray, there will be a farewell at the pier, it will also be embraced by black passion hot night on the ship, the hooves of the dusty steppe of India will also be tested, the couples under the blue music of the Waltz ... and also fly, they will say past In Kaleidoscope, gray, black, blue and brown eyes, forever remaining in memory and heart.

Chapter the fourth or about non-inactive statistics.

We will remal from images and try to refer to such non-inactive statistics. So, Vasily Betaki in his translation of "Litany Lovers" adds to one line more than in the original, and in the amount we have 42 lines. What an interesting number, is not it?

First stanza: eyes, boards, pier, rain, tears, farewell, steamer, youth, year, faith, hope, prayer. Outcome: 12 noun.

The second stanza: eyes, whisper, helm, foam, sides, shine, night, cross, ice, star, prayer.

Outcome: 11 nouns

Third stanza: eyes, space, steppe, side by side, horses, hearts, tone, topot, echo, mountains, udes, ears, prayer.

Outcome: 14 nouns

The fourth stanza: eyes, hills, light, summer, waltz, thick, darkness, officers, maleb, witchcraft, wine, silence, sincerity, recognizing.

Outcome: 14 nouns

Fifth stanza - and a sharp decline: life, debts, amurs, bankrupt, wine, prayer.

Outcome: 6 nouns

Total: 42 lines, 161 Word of all, of which 57 nouns names.

But if we agree in advance that "lovers" will be perceived as an adjective. I understand that the adjectives can go into the category of nouns, but, since it was still disassembled in this class, we will act, as already mentioned above.

The second translation - Konstantina Simonova - has 24 lines (42 on the contrary, so turning!) And six stanz. If you figure out, the following is obtained:

The first stanza: eyes, dawn, siren, rain, separation, trail, screw, foam.

Total: 8 nouns names.

Second stanza: eyes, heat, sea, stars, slip, side, morning, kisses, reflection.

Total: 9 nouns names.

Third stanza: eyes, moon, waltz, silence, wall, foggy

Total: 6 nouns names

Fourth Row: Eyes, Sand, Autumn, Steppe, Hunting, Jump, Hair, Padena, Flight

Total: 9 nouns names

Fifth stanza: judge, judgments, debtor.

Total: 3 nouns name

Sixth stanza: sides, lights, guilt, colors.

Total: 4 nouns.

In total, we get 24 lines, 87 words of everything, of which 39 nouns names.

We will make a simple ratio, that is, we calculate the frequency, the occurrence of nouns names in the first and second texts.

To do this, we divide the number of nouns names on the number of words of everything. Translated in Basil Betaki 57/161 \u003d 0.35, or 35%.

Translated by Konstantin Simonova: 39/87 \u003d 0.45, or 45%.

It is objectively seen that Simonov used a greater number of nouns names compared to the rest of speech parts than betaci.

Conclusion.

The poem of Reddiard Kipling "Gray Eyes - Dawn" ("Prayer of Lovers", "The Lovers" Litany ") Amazingly colored, bright, emotional work.

Of all the above, we can conclude that the translations of the betaci and Simonov, similar to each other in the overall picture, are at the same time two completely independent works. Drawing the same images with different turns (words, for the most part, are similar or differ slightly), two poet translasts received absolutely different results: a detailed translation for betaci and short retelling Simonova.

The more interesting is the frequency of use of nouns: it turns out that the names of the nouns in the text are used more often than other parts of speech, the more compressed looks like a story, and the skillful use of these very nouns allows not to lose the image and the colorfulness of the general picture.

Kipling Pooh "The Lovers" Litany "is filled with romance from and before. Past beautiful words, images, articles cannot be passed just like that. Songs were recorded on both options for translation: "Prayer of lovers" from Ivan Koval (Translation of Basil Betaki) and "Gray Eyes - Dawn" from Svetlana Nikiforova (she is alkor) on Simonov verses.

I could not pass by and I wrote a story "based on". For basic images, two songs were taken alkor - "Prince Oygen" and "Gray Eyes - Dawn".

Let me add a story to the application for this work and to complete this.

Sincerely. Helga Dairin.

"Gray eyes - dawn" is one of the early, even pre-war, poems of Konstantin Simonov. In the ten-year meeting of works, published in 1979, it is in the "Film Translations" section.

In its own way, the history of the creation of the poem of Reddiard Kipling, and its translation into Russian by Konstantin Simonov is one of the most "free" translations of the 20th century: a poem in translation in short of the original.

"Such love like ours will never die!"

The first collection of poems by Reddard Kipling was out of England in 1886, when his author was 20 years old. And in the collection there was a poem in which he repeated several times as a spell, words:

"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!" -
"Such love, like ours, never will die!".

The poem was called "The Lovers" Litany "-" Litania of Lovers ".

Litania is a prayer, each proposal of which completes the same phrase. A peculiar prayer spell. "LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!" - "Such love, as ours, never will die!" - repeated twenty-year-old Rudyard Kipling at the end of each of the five stains of the prayer poem.

In the original, the poem looks like this:

Eyes of Gray - A Sodden Quay,
Driving Rain and Falling Tears
AS THE STEAMER WEARS TO SEA
IN A PARTING STORM OF CHEERS.

Sing, for Faith and Hope Are High -
None SO True As You and I -
Sing the Lovers "Litany: -

Eyes of Black - A Throbbing Keel,
Milky Foam To Left and Right;
Whispered Converse Near The Wheel
In The Brilliant Tropic Night.

Cross That Rules The Southern Sky!
Stars That Sweep, And Wheel, and Fly,
Hear the lovers "Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

EYES OF BROWN - A Dusty Plain
SPLIT AND PARCHED WITH HEAT OF JUNE,
Flying Hoof and Tightened Rein,
Hearts That Beat The Old, Old Tune.

Side by Side The Horses Fly,
Frame We Now The Old Reply
Of the lovers "Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

EYES OF BLUE - THE SIMLA HILLS
Silvert With The Moonlight Hoar;
PLEADING OF THE WALTZ THAT THRILLS,
Dies and Echoes Round Benmore.

"Mabel", "Officers", "good-bye",
Glamor, Wine, and Witchery -
On my soul "s sincerity,
"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

Maidens, of Your Charity,
Pity My Most Luckless State.
Four Times Cupid "S Debtor I -
Bankrupt in Quadruplicate.

Yet, Despite This Evil Case,
An A Maiden Showed Me Grace
Four and Forty Times Would I
Sing the Lovers "Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS CAN NEVER DIE!"

Poems of kipling - color and are associated with memories of the poet travel to India.

The first stanza is gray: gray September sky in Essex, from where the steamer goes into his long swimming, rain, wet berth, wet from the tears, the words of farewell.

The second stanza is black: tropical night in the ocean, steamer, sea foam along the sides, whisper in the night darkness, sparkling in the sky southern cross and starfall.

The third stanza is brown: the dusty steppe, the land that fused on the June heat, rapidly rush horses. And two hearts that try the old motive of lovers: "Such love, as ours, will never die!".

The fourth stanza is blue: mountains, silver plated lunar, the sounds of the Waltz, who asks for you, trembles, freezes and echo.

Four stanzas are four images: gray, black, brown, blue - and gray, black, brown and blue eyes of girls in which Rudyard Kipling was in love.

Four stains and four in love. Unsuccessful.

In the fifth stanza poem, this is the poet: "Four times I am the debtor of Amur - and four times of bankrupt."

Close to the original poem transferred Vasily Betaki.

Prayer lovers
Gray eyes ... And here -
Wet boards ...
Rain? Less? Fareweigh.
And goes a steamer.
Our youth of the year ...
Vera and hope? Yes -
Sing the prayer of all lovers:
Love? So forever!

Brown eyes - Spacious,
Steppe, side by side rushing horses,
And hearts in an old tone
Seclud a fetter echoing the mountains ...
And stretched the zero
And in the ears he sounds then
Again the prayer of all lovers:
Love? So forever!

Black eyes ... Silent!
The whisper at the steering wheel lasts,
Foam along the sides flows
In the brilliance of the tropical night.
Southern Cross of Transparent Ice,
Star drops again.
Here is a prayer of all lovers:
Love? So forever!

Blue eyes ... hills
Silver lunar light
And trembles indian summer
Waltz, mounted in the thick of darkness.
- Officers ... Mabel ... when?
Witchcraft, wine, silence,
This sincerity is recognized -
Love? So forever!

Yes ... but life glanced frowning,
Made by me: After all, here -
All in debt in front of Amur
I am four bankrupt!
And is my fault?
If b again at least one
Smiled favorably
I would forty times then
Sang a prayer for all lovers:
Love? So forever!

Constantine Simonov's translation almost twice the original.

There are no final stuff with spell words and concrete geographical names - Southern Cross, India, nor Waltz, nor officers. In general, no specifics. The colors of the first four stanza are preserved - four in love - "I am four times the debtor of blue, gray, brown, black."

And prayers - prayers, of course, no ... Young people of pre-war time in the USSR were mostly romantics and nearly atheists.

The poem in the translation of Konstantin Simonov is called on the first line: "Gray eyes - dawn ..."

* * *
Gray eyes - Dawn,
Shipping siren,
Rain, separation, gray trail
Behind the screw of the running foam.

Black eyes - heat,
In the sea of \u200b\u200bsleepy stars slip,
And in the board until the morning
Kisses reflections.

Blue eyes - Moon,

From Padena and flight.

No, I'm not a judge for them,
Just without judgic
I'm four times debtor
Blue, gray, brown, black.

All four of these colors.

The poem "Gray Eyes - Dawn ..." reads the cadet of the sovietary branch of the Murmansk Sea Fish industry college. I.I. Months Tom Antipov.

In this article we will discuss one interesting point from the series "Policeman from Rublevka-3: again at home." Namely, we are interested in the question of what a poem read Grisha Izmailov at the end of the 7th series (23rd in general) in this comedy television series on the TNT channel.

In essence, Grisha himself said that this poem is not him, but the Redyard Kipling. Most likely we are interested in the words of this wonderful poem in the translation of Konstantin Simonov. Called the 7th episode "Eternal Midnight".

The series begins with the fact that his old acquaintance of Victoria came to work for Gris. She offered to go to Grisha for her birthday, definitely grabbing a girl with him, also so that he was still captured with him and a friend who must also come with a girl. It seemed strange, and so in the end and it turned out.

After all, cunning Vika decided how it turned out at the very end of the series, to hold a quest. By the way, Grisha himself guessed that something was unclean and everything was adjusted by Vika. A little about the quest. The light suddenly went out, and those present were hostage at home. Each present it was necessary to tell some kind of secret, so to tell you about my "skeleton in the closet."

It was this evening that the end of cracks in relations between Grisha and Alena occurred. Grisha Izmailov, at the end of the 23rd (7th) series of the third season "Policeman from Rublevka", wriggled the poem, it was very good enough of the character, or rather the inner fragile world of Grisha Izmailov, which was not as used to see Grisha. Yes Grisha and at that moment, after the revelations of Alena, showed himself tough, even rather cruel to Alena, but this poem a little softened what was happening.

Grey eyes. - Sunrise,
Wet boards.
Rain? Less? Fareweigh.
And goes a steamer ...
Our loyalty of the year ...
Vera and hope? Yes:
Sing the prayer of all lovers:
"Love? So - forever! "

Black eyes. - Silence!
The whisper at the steering wheel lasts.
Foam along the sides flows
In the brilliance of the tropical night.
Southern Cross - Transparent Ice.
Star drops again.
Here is a prayer of all lovers:
"Love? So - forever! "

Brown eyes. - Spacious.
Steppe. Side about side horses rushing.
And hearts in an old tone
Fights the echo echo.
And - stretched the zloda ...
And in the ears he sounds then
Again the prayer of all lovers:
"Love? So - forever! "

Blue eyes. - Hills
Silver lunar light
And trembles indian summer
Waltz, Manthawn in Darkness ...
- Officers ... Maib ... When? ..
Witchcraft. Wine. Silence ...
This sincerity is recognized:
"Love? So - forever! "

Yes ... But life glanced frowning.
Made by me: After all, here -
All in debt in front of Amur,
I am four bankrupt!
And is my fault?
If b again at least one
Smiled favorably
I would forty times then
Sang a prayer for all lovers:
"Love? So - forever! "

Rudyard Kipling
(Translation of Konstantina Simonova)

Gray eyes - Dawn,
Shipping siren,
Rain, separation, gray trail
Behind the screw of the running foam.

Black eyes - heat,
In the sea of \u200b\u200bsleepy stars slip,
And in the board until the morning
Kisses reflections.

Blue eyes - Moon,
Waltz white silence,
Daily Wall
Inevitable forgiveness.

Brown eyes - sand,
Autumn, wolf steppe, hunting,
Jump, all in the hairs
From Padena and flight.

No, I'm not a judge for them,
Just without judgic
I'm four times debtor
Blue, gray, brown, black.

Like four sides
One of the same light
I love - there is no guilt -
All four of these colors.

The Lovers' Litany

Eyes of Gray - A Sodden Quay,
Driving Rain and Falling Tears
AS THE STEAMER PUTS TO SEA
IN A PARTING STORM OF CHEERS.
Sing, for Faith and Hope Are High -
None SO True As You and I -
Sing the Lovers' Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS NEVER DIE!"

Eyes of Black - A Throbbing Keel,
Milky Foam To Left and Right;
Whispered Converse Near The Wheel
In The Brilliant Tropic Night.
Cross That Rules The Southern Sky!
STARS THAT SWEEP, AND TURN, AND FLY
Hear The Lovers' Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS NEVER DIE!"

EYES OF BROWN - A Dusty Plain
Split and Parched with Heat of June.
Flying Hoof and Tightened Rein,
Hearts That Beat The Ancient Tune.
Side by Side The Horses Fly,
Frame We Now The Old Reply
Of The Lovers' Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS NEVER DIE!"

EYES OF BLUE - THE SIMLA HILLS
Silvered with Moonlight Hoar;
PLEADING OF THE WALTZ THAT THRILLS,
Dies and Echoes Round Benmore.
"Mabel", "Officers", "good-bye",
Glamor, Wine, and Witchery -
ON My Soul's Sincerity,
"LOVE LIKE OURS NEVER DIE!"

Maidens, of Your Charity,
PITY MY MOST LUCKLESS STATE,
FOUR TIMES CUPID'S DEBTOR I -
Bankrupt in Quadruplicate.
YET, Despite My Evil Case,
An A Maiden Showed Me Grace
Four and Forty Times Would I
Sing the Lovers' Litany: -
"LOVE LIKE OURS NEVER DIE!"
