The library is the central building of the city of Vennesla, because it is located in its central square. As far as the design of the library is concerned, the building consists of 27 wooden floors made of timber and plywood.


The National Library is located in the Korean city of Sejong. The construction of the 21,076 square meter building was completed in 2013. The project was developed by architects from Samoo in collaboration with Keun Jeong engineering company. The library building is easy to recognize, because outwardly it resembles an overturned book page. The unique shape of the library turns an ordinary building into a unique architectural monument.


Sammamish Library is located in Washington DC. The project was developed by Perkins + Will Architects. Thanks to its open and striking design, the building has become a popular architectural monument.


The library also has a conference room, an internet cafe and an area overlooking the square. The main reading room is very well lit. A glass roof, large windows are the main source of natural light, so the need for artificial lighting appears only after sunset. The library construction is very robust. There is also an underground car park.

New Library in Almere (Netherlands)


The Contemporary Library in Almere, The Netherlands, is a great project from Concrete Architectural Associates. The library has about 5,000 meters of bookshelves. It has a café, high-speed Internet access, multimedia and research departments. In this library, books are arranged not by numbers, but by thematic principle. Cooroy Library is a digital information library located in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 2010 as part of the Mill Place Master Plan for Cooroy project. The library covers an area of ​​1650 square meters and is one of the central buildings of the city.


The library project was developed by Brewster Hjorth Architects. The building has a modern stylish interior with a bright color palette and various forms, in addition, it is distinguished by the fact that there is a garden on the roof. The building consists of two pavilions.


The Brasiliana Library is located in Brazil with an area of ​​21,950 square meters. Designed by Rodrigo Mindlin Loeb + Eduardo de Almeida. The construction of the library was completed in 2013. It houses a rare collection of 17,000 books. The design of the library used design elements of such libraries as Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library (Elsk University, USA) and Saint Geneviève Library (Paris, France).


This library was built in two years in Brisbane, Australia. Its construction was completed in November 2006. The project was designed by Donovan Hill + Peddle Thorp Architects. This is the result of a complete transformation of an existing building. Old structures and constructions have been expanded and new elements have been added. The area of ​​the library has increased by 12 thousand square meters (the original building area was 10,000 square meters).


The building of the 4527 square meter library was completed in 2010. The project is owned by Aflalo and Gasperini Architects. The building, which after numerous transformations is now used as a library, used to be a prison.


Spacious interior with flexible layouts, colorful furniture and original graphics. The library is organized like a bookstore. It also houses a small auditorium and spacious reading rooms.


The library is located in the city of Aberdeen (Scotland). It was founded in 1495. The local university is ranked fifth on the list oldest universities of English language... It houses a collection of 250,000 ancient books and manuscripts.


The 15,000 square meter building with 1,200 reading spaces and dedicated rooms for rare books has been renovated and rebuilt by architects and designers from the Danish company Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects. On the ground floor there is a room for exhibitions, seminars and poetry readings, as well as a cozy cafe. Overall, the building looks very stylish and modern.



The official opening of the library took place on October 21, 2011. Yi Architects won an architectural innovation competition in 1999.
